This weeks' "catch of the week" was caught by Nick Okirua aboard Pro Red Fishing Charters fishing off Mt Martha. The fish went 8.2kg. Well done Nick!

Paul, Cristy and Jet have had a ball fishing and filming in the Port Vincent Gulf, in South Australia. The Worsteling’s have been mixing it up a little, not only fishing with rod and reel, but also getting their feet wet catching Razor fish and dropping crab pots off Kayaks, catching some tasty Blue Swimmer Crabs.

Big thanks to Shane Mensforth who has been showing the crew around the magnificent fishery of Port Vincent who hasn’t disappointed, getting Paul onto a cracking 1m Snapper and finding plenty of King George Whiting.

Paul Jones fished out of Warneet this week and found a nice school of Pinkies. Squid and Pilchards were the best bait.

QUAIL BANK

Levente Peto and his son, Nick, took our good friend Paul De Lisle out on Saturday morning. Young Nick showed the older boys how things were done, and landed the majority of the fish on a pipi and mussel cocktail. 18 King George whiting were caught altogether, with a few reaching the 42cm mark.
HASTINGS

David Albarenque and good customer Rod Hargrave fished out of Hastings in search of some gummy sharks. The boys were not disappointed, landing this big girl that weighed 13kg. The boys report that fresh Slimey Mackeral chunks did the trick.

Phil and Nick took advantage of the Australia day holiday and headed out from Hastings. With King George Whiting in mind, the boys fished the shallows and managed a lovely bag to take home.

CAPE WOOLAMAI

Kevin Bardsley caught this monster 1.3m Yellowtail Kingfish out from Cape Woolamai. Kevin was trolling Rapala X-Rap 30’s in 11m of water when he hooked his fish. Kevin reports that the fish was a team effort and he wouldn’t have landed it without his mate Adrian Seminl. Well done fellas!

Simon Rinaldi from Red Hot Fishing Charters fished offshore last Saturday, and landed this cracker gummy while drifting squid baits. Nice fish Simmo!
CORINELLA

Plenty of Whiting are coming from the Corinella area lately. Shane Carey didn’t have to spend long on the water to find his bag, which consisted of some 40+cm models. Silver Trevally are also prevalent this time of the year.

Up and coming fisherman, Cooper Cosgriff caught his first King George Whiting off Corinella this week. We are sure this will be the first of many.

PORT PHILLIP BAY
THE RIP

Hunter, Blacky and Rocky, AKA “Team Leech” headed to the Rip along with 100 other boats. Despite the heavy traffic, the boys still managed to find the fish, landing plenty to 7kg. Trolling X-Raps and Jigging were the best methods.

Good customer down at Mornington, Dave Stockley fished the rip last Saturday and had a cracking session landing 8 kings up 9kg all on jigs. Great stuff Dave!

QUEENSCLIFF

Grant Lawson and his mate Brock got their bag of quality size Whiting fishing the weed beds off Queenscliff last weekend. Pipi was the best bait, with several fish coming on a whiting prowler rig.

Sam Riggio and his holidaying family managed plenty of Southern Calamari fishing the weed beds off St Leonards. Sam also found 2 cracking Cutttlefish.

PORTARLINGTON

Laura and Amelia feature again in this weeks’ fishing report. The girls headed out of Portarlington with their father on Saturday and found a mixed bag of King George Whiting and Flathead to 50cm.
BRIGHTON

Brooke and Steve have been doing well fishing from the Brighton middle pier. The pair caught over 16 Whiting to 40cm on Friday night using Pipis and Squid.

HALF MOON BAY

Anthony Torpy has found some good patches of Snapper fishing from the sand at Half Moon Bay. Anthony has been landing fish to 3kg and has had plenty of Salmon amongst them. Anthony also reported that fresh Mullet have been the best bait.

Jayson Turner from Pro Red Fishing Charters is still managing to find his clients nice bags of Snapper in deep off Mt Martha. The fish are ranging from 1kg to 8kg! Silver Whiting and Squid are working well on the Instinct Snapper rigs.

SOUTHERN PORT PHILLIP BAY

Michael Buxton fished with Shaun Furtiere aboard Think Big Charters and managed this cracking Gummy Shark caught out of the South channel. Fresh trevally fillet was the bait and the fish went at 4am.

This 12kg fish was caught by Dicko down off Rye, along with a good bag of squid.

SURF COAST

John Mole and Brian Long ventured down past Lorne last week, with spinning for Salmon in mind, The boys got quite a surprise landing 7 Kingfish to 75cm on 28g metal lures. John and Brian ventured back down the next day and had just as much success.
BARWON HEADS

Anne and Olivia were treated to some cracking Bream to 42cm. Live Bass Yabbies and Shrimp have been doing the damage.

We've had mixed reports from Toolondo Reservoir since the water starting flowing in and many people have said it will need a week or two to settle. But then Geoff Stock sent us these pics from the other day of his son and granddaughter with a couple of cracker Toolondo trout.

Chucky with a ripper 81cm Murray Cod caught out of Strathmerton during the week. The fish received a lovely kiss and cuddle before being returned back to the water.

Emma Kemp caught this Gummy Shark off Port Welshpool on Australia Day. Emma was using Pilchard as bait, and also managed 2 undersize Gummies which were put back.

Frank Milito from East Gippsland Fishing charters has been fishing Lake Tyers and Bemm River this week, finding his clients abundances of Estuary Perch once again.

Derren Speas got this lovely Whiting along with some Pinky Snapper from a Jetty on Raymond Island in the Gippsland Lakes.

BEMM RIVER
Sasha Sergejew and Brendan Wing took their kids to the Bemm last week with some sensational results. Sasha and Winga report that they exclusively fished with hard body lures in very shallow water mostly 300mm to 1M. The kids naturally out fished the adults and had some red hot bites with well over 30 fish, including double and even triple hook ups!

Two weekends ago, the Batemans Bay Game Fishing Clubs Tollgate Classic was held and it was a record year for Marlin captures. All up 105 marlin were caught by 48 boats, 103 of those released. The heaviest was a 162.5 blue caught by Peter McMasters. Joel Barton, pictured above aboard Liquid Assets, pulls up a striped marlin he tagged and released during the Tollgate Classic.

Good customers Andrew Coburn and Paul Mills fished Bermi last weekend in the Blue Water Classic, with Paul’s son Cooper taking out highest point scoring Junior with the first tagged marlin by a Junior. The boys also had a nice Mako on but lost it in the fight.

Cam and crew on Big Mac with their striped Marlin taken off 12 Mile reef on Friday, the day before the Blue Water Classic tournament. A number of boats did likewise and were rewarded accordingly. 83 Marlin were also caught in the Blue water Classic, a colossal amount of fish for the week.

There have been some great reports of Mahi Mahi from Eden right through to Narooma this week with fish up to 18kg.
