PAUL’S FISHING

Paul headed to the Mornington Peninsula with David Kramer on Good Friday and exchanged the fishing rods for a spear gun for the day. The boys landed a couple of nice 50cm flatties, one rock and one bluespot that went down a treat for a Good Friday dinner.

MIDDLE SPIT

Rita Andis headed out to the Middle Spit over Easter and landed some quality King George whiting to 40cm. Rita reports shucked mussel and pipis did the damage during the runout tide.

Keith Diprose from Big Time Fishing Charters reports he had plenty of fun on the whiting Saturday morning whilst at the Middle Spit. The fish were a bit finicky, but with a bit of movement he managed a good feed. Mussels and squid strips were the stand out baits.

Shaun Furtiere from Think Big Fishing Charters was back on the water this weekend and his customers were back onto the whiting! Lovely bag here Shaun, well done!

Tiff Andrews was lucky enough to land her first big gummy while out on the Port this weekend with boyfriend Chris and good friend, John Macleod. Tiff's lovely catch weighed a respectable 10kg and was taken on a fresh squid ring. Great work Tiff!

The elephant fish are here! We have seen elephants throughout the reports for a little while now, but it is circulating that they are definitely in bigger numbers. Adam and Benedict were very happy with their elephant fish taken from the Lang Lang beach on high tide. Great photo guys!

STOCKYARD POINT

Wayne Watson fished with his mate Pete and his dad Woody and Pete’s son and daughter Zac and Temeka. The crew caught these nice elephant fish at stockyard point at Jam Jerrop in Western Port on Easter Sunday. Well done gang!

Paul Maher and Gavin Kirchner landed this pair of gummys while out from Phillip Island this week. The boys brought home the goods, but report they had to work fairly hard for them! Great fish nevertheless.

Mason Shulze and his good mate, Jed headed out on the Port Saturday night where they boated 2 quality gummys at 6 and 11kg respectively. The following arvo, the pair headed back out again. Fishing the deeper water at the Western Entrance, the boys were able to land a bigger girl of 15kg. Great work fellas.

There was plenty of fun aboard Matt Cini’s Reel Time Fishing Charters over the weekend. Matt found some really solid patches of snapper for some happy customers with the majority of fish around 3-4kg. Cricketing legend, Merv Hughes even hopped aboard and from all reports there were plenty of laughs! For the remainder of the weekend, Matt continued his good form on the whiting and calamari, sending his clients home with a top notch feed.

Anthony and Greg Torpy spent Monday and Tuesday out from Mt Martha where they both had a big outing on the pinkies and flathead. As well as some quality flathead, the boys were able to land in excess of 100 pinkies between 35 and 40cm and only kept 12 for a feed. All fish were landed on freshly caught mullet.

Good customer Tom Sanza landed a beast of a Cuttlefish on Easter Monday out from Rosebud. It went every bit of 5kg and was a true monster of the deep. Nice catch Tom!

Natalia and her Dad finally managed to sneak out on the water Easter Monday after some pretty average weather. It was pretty hard going as the pair had to move around a lot and made multiple jig colour changes until they found something that worked. Persistence paid off as Natalia landed 8 beautiful calamari and a 2kg cuttlefish.

Li Yang was very excited to land this quality 1m gummy between Mud Island and South Fort Channel over the weekend. Li’s bait of choice was a piece of fresh squid.

BLAIRGOWRIE

11 year old Jordan plant caught this 57 cm flathead in 6 m of water off Blairgowrie on Easter Monday. It seems there is good numbers of these great size flatties on the Peninsula at the moment.

John Henwood had a great day out on Easter Monday, landing a handful of nice King George whiting out at the Pinnace. John reports cuttlefish and pipi were the baits that worked on a runout tide.

PORT PHILLIP SOUTH

Mason Shulze and his mate Jed had an action packed weekend on the water and it was all kicked off targeting plus sized whiting in Southern Port Phillip. There were no shortages of fish as the boys landed 20 fish each and all were between 40 and 45cm. Love ya work fellas.

On Monday, Laura and Amelia headed out from Portarlington with their Dad in hope of bringing back a feed of whiting and calamari. It turned out to be a very productive afternoon as the girls managed their targeted species along with 5 of Laura’s favourite garfish. Well done girls!

Brad Lawrence headed out with Salty Dog Fishing Charters and got him onto his first tuna for the season of about 15kg. Brad reports they were not far from Julia Percy Island when the rods screamed off.

Troy hit the double header of kingfish and tuna on his recent trip down to Port Fairy. This quality king came while working a surface lure across the top before getting nailed!

Craig Ingram headed off shore from Marlo over the weekend in search of Kings, and wasn’t disappointed. Craig landed plenty of fish to 10kg on surface lures. Well done Craig!

Andrew Shortis had a great outing while down at Shallow Inlet over the long weekend. Andrew conjured up a beautiful bag of whiting along with trevally, chunky salmon and flatties.

Ralph Francois and his son headed to Lakes Entrance over Easter and had a ball catching some nice dusky flathead. The biggest went 3.2kg & 790mm which was released after this quick pick while the other went 1.8kg & 500mm and made very nice fillets for the pan.

Kozzi and Huff took their old mate Warthog on his first trip to Lake Tyers. It wasn’t long until the boys were into the action and Warthog landed this lovely dusky flathead on a squidgies prawn paddle tail.

Phil Porteous has been nailing some beautiful barramundi and mangrove jack up in Queensland near Gladstone on recent trips. Live baiting and trolling have both proved effective. Cracking fish mate!

Ex Melbournian and Bent Rod Squad representative, Big Puff hooked up the boat and hit up his favourite jewy hole over the long weekend where he hauled this stonker along with a good feed of solid golden snapper. Smiles all round!
