Paul spent last Saturday at Futurefish Foundation’s “Kids come try fishing” day at Casey Fields, providing tuition to each and every one of the 300 children who attended the day. In superb conditions on Saturday, around 90 trout were caught and it was smiles all round for the kids, who all went home with a Shimano Tackle Rat combo courtesy of Futurefish.

The reds are definitely on as Nick found out landing this 7.54kg beauty on a pilly in the top end of the Port. Hopefully this gets everyone excited. Great fish mate!

Ryan Macgregor snagged a quality snapper and gummy while fishing in the top end of the Port on Saturday night. Ryan’s snapper weighed in at 7kg and the gummy was a whopping 16kg! Well done mate!

Good Customer, Peter Vink opened his account for the season with this cracking red weighing 7.77kg taken from the Lang Lang area. Freshly caught squid was the secret according to Pete. Awesome fish mate and what a fantastic picture!

Shaun Furtiere from Think Big Fishing Charters kicked his season off with a bang and landed multiple snapper for some happy customers on the weekend. Shaun reports that all the reds could not resist some freshly caught salmon.

Rade and Deki were rewarded with this lovely 6kg snapper while fishing late into the night on Saturday. The boys report that a freshly caught squid from earlier in the night got the job done on this early season red.

Alan Bonnici managed some lively pinkies in some turbid water while fishing the Port Melbourne area this week. According to Alan the water was filthy but the fish didn’t seem to mind.

Talk about big snapper on light gear! Customer Jim Xyga dropped into the shop on Friday to stock up on some soft plastics in search of some pinkies on light bream tackle and ended up hooking onto this 7kg beast while drifting in shallow out from Sandringham. Jim reports his gear was working overtime for the better part of half an hour. Well done mate!

Anthony Torpy has been having some good success lately while fishing land-based from the Sandringham area. Anthony picked up some rather large flathead this week along with some table sized pinkies. Fresh pike has been the stand out bait.

Wissam Karim landed this whopping 5.5kg snapper while fishing out of his kayak at Ricketts Point this week. Wassam was flicking curl tail soft plastics when this steam train hit and continued to tow him around! Great fish mate.

Anthony Bullard landed this hearty 38cm bream while fishing under the Carrum Bridge on prawns. Anthony reports that this bream snapped his line but got wedged between the rocks before being released to fight another day.

The whiting are on according to Matt Cini from Reel Time Fishing Charters. The whiting have been that thick that Matt hasn’t even bothered with the snapper yet as everyone wants their fix of fat ting! Love ya work Matt.

Beau, Bailey and Jay ventured off Queenscliff with their fathers from the Whittlesea Angling Club and picked up a wonderful bag of calamari. The kids were very pleased with their efforts. Well done boys!

How good was Mitch Bertacchini's form from Online Fishing Charters over the weekend?! Mitch boated two barrels weighing 101 and 122kg respectively while trolling in 50m of water south of the rock at Portland. There were a couple of happy customers on board to say the least!

Stretch and Jason Vyverberg from the Cranbourne Angling Club dominated the salmon down at Andersons Inlet over the weekend. Jase managed 6 fish for a total weight of 7.77kg and Stretch landed the biggest weighing 1.48kg.
