Staff members Paul and David fished under a special permit at Hazelwood Pondage Wednesday to film an episode of IFISH to promote the opening of Victoria’s first ever Barramundi fishery. In conditions that you could mistake for a cracker QLD day on the Barra, the boys landed around 20 Barra casting and trolling hard body lures. The Hazelwood Pondage Barra fishery opens to the public this Friday and WOW, is this going to be a magnificent fishery!!

Staff members Paul and David headed down to sunny Morwell on Wednesday and fished for Barramundi on Hazelwood Pondage. The boys landed around 20 fish all on hard body lures either trolled or cast into schools of Barra found on the sounder. The boys report that the fish have spread to virtually every single part of the Pondage and every single fish was taken within 15m of the shoreline. This will be great for land based fishing which is unrestricted, but due to expected high visitation and limited boat trailer parking, a ballot system is now open for boaters to reserve days you would like to fish for a Victorian Barra. There is no cost to enter the ballot. Click on the link below to reserve your days to have a reserved boat trailer and car park.
