Paul is up in Brisbane at the moment after a call from the boys at Tackle World Lawnton that the threadies were on. PW reports it’s been an early morning bite, but well worth the alarm clock awakening to get some quality threadfin salmon like this one that just cracked the one metre mark on a Rapala Rippin Rap 07; all on the doorstep of a large Australian city.

Tuna fishing just doesn’t get any better! Well done to Wayne Sharrock from Sharkmen Fishing Charters and his customers who boated this trifecta of giant bluefin tuna on Wednesday. The boys were hooked into this trio for over 3 hours and battled their way through mayhem to land all 3! Fantastic fish fellas!

Wayne Sharrock and crew from Sharkmen Fishing Charters also managed to crack the ton earlier in the week with this beast of a tuna weighing in at 112.3kg taken in close from Cape Nelson. Cracker fish guys!

A couple of customers aboard Red Hot Fishing Charters ventured down from Sydney to get amongst the barrel onslaught and they were not disappointed! Simon Rinaldi and Matty Harris weren’t mucking around and in no time at all they had a double hook up! Unfortunately one fish was lost after 20 minutes, taking a staggering amount of 80 pound off the reel, but they were able to bring this cracker aboard. Love ya work boys!

Terry Scicluna and Xavier Ellul battled this monster for over 2 hours Thursday morning before hauling her aboard. Terry and Xavier were out from Port Macdonnell when this beast came up and hit their lure! A prolonged fight on 37kg. Well done fellas!

Pete Miller was stoked with his catch this week! Pete managed to fool this old girl snapper into taking his bait while fishing shallow at Corinella. Beautiful looking fish Pete, well done!

TOP END

Frank Toth fished the top end of the Port this week and came home with a delicious feed of flake. Frank landed this lovely feeder gummy weighing in at 5kg and was taken on a thin squid ring.

Dean Delaney landed this cracker red while fishing the top end of the Port on Thursday. Dean reports this beautiful looking fish was taken on a pilchard and weighed in at 7kg! Love ya work Dean

JOES ISLAND

The Jackson brothers got the job done in the top end while fishing in 10m of water at Joes Island over the weekend. The boys sounded up some solid arches so they sent down some fresh squid and in no time they landed this beautiful red weighing in at 7.5kg. Awesome stuff boys!

Prior to hitting up the reds, the Jackson Brothers spent a bit of time at Tyabb trying to conjure up some squid. The squid were slow but they were able to jig up this freshy which was worth its weight in gold!

Steph Thomas got stuck into the calamari action this week and pulled up these 2 beauties from the weedy ground at Tyabb Bank. Steph reports that the white Shimano Sephia jigs got the job done. Awesome work Steph, Yum Yum!

Lucas Hanks was over the moon with his calamari catches on the weekend! Lucas caught 6 squid with the biggest hood measuring 48cm and there was some larger models dropped! All squid were taken on a silver whiting under a float.

Fadi Alnajar caught this lovely bream last Thursday while on a school excursion to the city. Fadi walked the banks of the Yarra casting small soft plastics and came up tight with this lovely specimen.

ALTONA

Jarryd Wernham was pumped with his first snapper and what a beauty it was! Jarryd was fishing off Altona on Saturday morning when this 79cm 5.3kg red picked up his pilchard and steamed off! From all reports, the young fella couldn’t wipe the smile off his face!

BLAIRGOWRIE

Staff member David Kramer headed down to his favourite stomping ground over the weekend, the Mornington Peninsula and he wasn't disappointed. David reports the big calamari are off Blairgowrie and good numbers of whiting between 37 - 39 cm out near Mud Island. David said the water temp rose 2 deg with the run in tide and really fired the fish up late in the afternoon. Whiting all went on cuttlefish & pipi cocktail. David tried to claim this big squid as his, but we all know his lovely wife, Fee was the lucky angler on the rod!

There is no lack of succulent calamari in the southern regions of the bay as Shaun Furtiere from Think Big Fishing Charters found out throughout the week. Shaun managed to locate some nice patches of squid and sent his clients home with a descent feed. Love ya work Shaun.

Geoff Stock and his mate, Charlie got out on the lake over the weekend and managed to release 6 trout and took this one home for tea. Awesome fishing fellas.

MARYSVILLE

Kris Leckie picked up this lovely rainbow while fishing a small stream near Marysville. Kris reports he has been fishing this particular stream for many years and fish of this size are few and far between. Kris also managed another 4 fish for the day all taken on nymph style soft plastics.

GOULBURN RIVER

The Keysborough Angling Club had 19 members venture up to the Goulburn and Acheron Rivers over the weekend for trout opening. 29 trout were caught for the weekend in yet another successful competition. Karen May landed this wonderful specimen of 1.25kg taken from the Goulburn River.

EILDON

Geoff Wilkie spent a day at Lake Eildon over the weekend and was not disappointed with his results. Geoff was trolling pink Tassie Devils with his new rod and reel he picked up from the 4x4 show when this healthy brown fell victim to his lure of choice. Great work Geoff!

Phil and Matt Shannon and their mate Chris Baddley headed up to Eildon a couple of days prior to trout opening to fish the Eildon Pondage. The boys put together a good score and managed to land 8 fish on Thursday and 5 fish on Friday. Matt Shannon landed this quality rainbow trout weighing in at 3.2kg! The rest of the fish ranged between 800g and 1.2kg. Most fish were taken while walking the banks spinning, however a few fish fell victim to lemon twist PowerBait. Awesome work boys.

Duane Penza took his son, Thomas up to the Eildon Pondage during the Goulburn Fishing Festival where he hooked into his first ever rainbow trout taken on a mudeye under a bubble float. Thomas was one happy 10 year old!

GUNNAMATTA

Big Lachy fished in windy conditions on Father’s day but managed to land some nice size salmon from the sand at Gunnamatta. Gunnamatta continues to produce good numbers of salmon so get down there and load up the freezer before snapper season kicks into action!

Robbie P and his old boy made short work of the trout action while trolling Blue Rock Lake over the weekend. The boys pulled 4 trout to 46cm in less than 2 hours of fishing and have definitely taken advantage of the new boating regulations. Great work dudes.
NORTH EAST VIC

Luke Edwards landed this wonderful looking brown of 46cm while fishing a small north east mountain stream. Fishing just doesn’t get anywhere near as special as walking the banks of a picturesque trout stream.

Staff Member Lachlan Henstock had a ripper weekend hunting and fishing up at Lake Dartmouth over the weekend. Lachy reports that he and his mates put in a solid effort and landed 10 trout between 1.5 and 3 pounds respectively. All fish were taken on rainbow trout Strada Minnows.

Frank Millito from East Gippsland Fishing Charters reports the fishing has been tough the last couple of weeks with the amount of dirty water pushing down the systems. Despite the hard times, Frank still managed to put his clients onto some lovely bream.

Max and Adam Krahnert landed this whopping kingfish at Port Augusta power station on Father’s Day weighing in at 20kg! This fish was found to have a tracking tag in it and after consulting fisheries, it had been tagged in Cronulla NSW. A fair swim to SA! What a great way to spend Father’s Day! Love ya work boys!
LAKE EUCUMBENE

Jason Stiller landed his first ever trout on the weekend while fishing the banks of Lake Eucumbene on Father’s Day. This quality rainbow measured 51cm and Jason reports he is now hooked on fishing! Great work Jason!
