AUSTRALIA’S BIGGEST WHITING TALK NIGHT
img

WESTERN PORT
HASTINGS
img
The weather definitely made things tough for many anglers this week, but Mitch Bertacchini from Online Fishing Charters was able to sneak out and put some of his clients onto some beautiful whiting! Pipi and squid has been irresistible to the whiting according to Mitch.

QUAIL BANK
img
The Quail Bank has been fishing very well for big King George whiting this week. Get up into the shallower water around the high tide and deeper (4-7m) from mid to low tide for best results. Pipi has been the best bait.

TOORADIN
img

img
This isn’t exactly a fishing report, but it does indicate the importance of being aware of your surroundings while fishing on Western Port! Old mate was left high and dry while out on his boat in the Tooradin Channel this week and then was seen crawling through the mud! When this photo was taken, he was roughly 200m from his boat and would definitely have been very tired from crawling through the thick mud. If you do happen to find yourself in this situation, the safest option is always to wait until the tide comes in!

TORTOISE HEAD
img
Shaun Furtiere from Think Big Fishing Charters has been having plenty of success with the whiting on the Port the past couple of weeks! Shaun has been working hard to find the fish and the hard work is paying off with some football scores of fish.

FLINDERS
img
Flinders pier has seen some good numbers of Calamari caught around the high tide the past week. Size 3 and 3.5 squid jigs are working a treat with dark or even black cloths dominating!

PORT PHILLIP BAY
FRANKSTON
img
John Collins headed down to Frankston Pier looking for some salmon this week and wasn’t disappointed. John landed 10 fish around 1kg throwing Squidgy 85mm Flickbait soft plastics. These fish have been around most days with the blowy weather bringing them on the bite.

MT MARTHA
img
Matt Cini from Reel Time Fishing Charters has definitely been enjoying this run of big whiting on the Peninsula! Matt has been fishing various areas from Mt Martha to Sorrento to put his happy customers on the fish!

img
Jaylee Branch had a great session fishing for whiting with her dad last week. Jaylee and her dad, Shane landed 14 fish for the session with mussels and cuttlefish the stand out baits!

ROSEBUD
img
Robert Wilson headed out from Safety Beach looking for some whiting this week. Robert headed straight to the Rosebud Reef where he found plenty of small pinkies and some very good whiting up to 45cm. Squid and mussels were the best baits.

PORTSEA
img
Cory Moodie has had good results fishing the Portsea back beach when he landed this healthy gummy shark. Cory was using salmon and squid as bait, the gummy’s favoured the squid every time!
Great catch mate.

AROUND THE STATE
PORTLAND
img
Good customer Jason Taylor has definitely caught the tuna bug! Jase headed back to Portland this week and was stoked to jig up some chunky bluefin on Hayabusa jigs! How good is fishing at Portland with shorts and t-shirts! Well done Jason!

PURRUMBETE
img
Congrats to Rod Rees and Reg Mallet on their capture of this monster Chinook of 5.860 kg. The boys were fishing with Trevor from Victorian Inland Charters at Lake Purrumbete. The group also managed a nice bag of 49 redfin which are great fun on lures! Awesome Work Boys!

GOULBURN
img
Staff member Greg and good customer Glenn Lacy hitched the tinny up and headed to the Goulburn River to search for some new Murray cod areas. The boys report it was a tough couple of days due to the weekend’s rain, but they did manage some healthy little cod while drowning some baits.

HAZELWOOD
img
Shane Randall and his family fished Hazelwood Pondage for the first time last week and caught this 57 cm barra. He said it was a moment they'll never forget! It’s great to see plenty of families utilising this fantastic fishery!

NOOJEE
img
The Toorongo River near Noojee has been fishing quite well for small brown trout with the wand wavers having good success on grass hopper imitations. The Toorongo can be quite skinny so if you want to chuck some lures around, small floating hard bodies are the go.

AROUND THE COUNTRY
BERMAGUI
img
The Cassar boys were at it again this week while up at Bermagui and Chris, Matt, Josh and Nathan went 5-3-3 on striped marlin while fishing on Tuesday. With good fishing from Port Stephens to Eden now is the time to head up the coast. Well done boys!

img
Wednesday was a pretty successful day for anglers. The crew aboard Happy Hour went 5.5.5 before lunch in what sounds like an eventful day!

NAROOMA
img
Narooma has been fishing exceptionally well for the marlin and the crew from Charter Fish Narooma have dominated! Unfortunately this big blue didn’t survive the battle this week, but it did not go to waste!

img
We haven’t heard too much on the Kingy front along the east coast due to the marlin bite being so good, but for those anglers giving it a crack around Montague Island, there are some fantastic Kings to be had!

PORT STEPHENS
img
Simon Rinaldi and Matty Harris from Red Hot Fishing Charters have continued their good form on the marlin this week while up at Port Stephens. The pair report that there are good numbers of both blue and striped marlin in the area!
