KINGFISH
THE RIP
img
Matt Cini from Reel Time Fishing Charters continues his great form on the kingies out of the Rip and has had massive amounts of success jigging with Hayabussa and Entice jigs. It is also great to see that Matt is doing the right thing and every one of his clients aboard Reel Time are wearing their life jackets whilst in the Rip!

img
Local Viva rep, Nick Bailey jumped aboard with Matt Cini on Wednesday morning and they have had an epic session jigging for kingfish! Nick reports that Hayabussa and Entice jigs have done the bulk of the damage and the new Crucis and Murasame jig rods have held their own! Great work guys.

The boys from Sharkmen Fishing Charters have also been amongst the Kingy action this week as there have been no shortages! Majority of fish are being landed during the week as the amount of boat traffic on weekends can spook the fish!

BARWON HEADS
img
The crew from Adamas Fishing Charters in Barwon Heads had a good week on the kingies finding great numbers of fish feeding under the schools of busting salmon. Live squid and yakkas have been getting the fish fired up.

PHILLIP ISLAND
img
The weekend saw Keith Diprose and the Bigtime team head out to bass strait to chase down a kingfish or two. Live bait is essential in this area, so after a few stops Skitzy picked up a couple of yakkas and some squid. Working the front of Phillip Island slow trolling the livies they eventually found a small school of fish and kept working over them until they couldn't ignore the temptation anymore and smashed the offerings. Great work guys!

PORTLAND
img
Kingfish guru, Scotty Gray found plenty more fat kingies out from Portland and Port Fairy this week. Scott has be polaroiding schools of fish in shallow and casting stickbaits to them in the calmer conditions and when the wind has been blowing, he pushes out deeper and drops Gomoku jigs on the large schools with a heap of success.

QUAIL BANK
img
Rebecca fished with her partner out from Quail Bank this week and was very pleased catching this lovely Port Jackson shark. Although usually undesirable, Port Jackson’s are quite pretty! The pair also managed a great feed of flatties for the table.

TOORADIN
img

On Saturday, Amelia and her Dad headed over to Western Port in search for a feed of whiting. After a slow start on the flood tide the pair eventually found some hungry whiting as the tide turned. Amelia and her Dad ended their day with a dozen whiting and 4 quality squid.

RHYLL
img
Young Jacob Memery has been slaying the gummies yet again whilst fishing with Nan and Pop out from Rhyll. Jacob’s Nana, Helen Izzard also got amongst the action on Saturday and landed this tasty 1.2kg pinkie.

COWES
img
Nick fished the Cowes area in some superb conditions throughout the week and was very pleased to land his very first leather jacket. What a beauty! Great work Nick.

WESTERN ENTRANCE
img
Shaun Furtiere from Think Big Fishing Charters has made Western Port his own and continues to dominate with good amounts of gummy sharks down south and has kept his clients happy with plenty of whiting along the Middle Spit as well! Fresh salmon and trevally are working well for the gummies and squid and pipis doing the trick on the tings.

OFFSHORE
img
Staff members, Don Newman and Harley Scott headed out from Western Port in search of the Vic kings but unfortunately struck out! They did however stumble across a few large schools of fat salmon and had a ball casting stickbaits and metal lures at them.

RYE
img

Fishing with his Mum, Dad and Brother Josh, Harry Trapman caught 3 consecutive banjo sharks on his tackle rat rod and reel. Dad helped Harry with the fight before bringing them aboard for some quick happy snaps before release. The family also ended up with some quality flathead to 48cm. Great work guys!

BLAIRGOWRIE
img

Mornington Staff member, Zach McMahon had a great day fishing on the Peninsula this week. It's amazing what a little Berley will bring in. Zach caught some good size whiting and trevally along with plenty of Tommy rough around Blairgowrie. We are currently setting up a fundraiser to buy Zach a shaver as his neck beard is getting awfully out of control! Donate in store.

AROUND THE STATE
LAKE TYERS
img
Staff members David Kramer and Adam Ring fished the Aqua Cup at Lake Tyers last weekend and had great success on the prawns at night and the flathead during the early morning. With Lake Tyers closed, the prawns are land locked and come out around 10pm each night. The boys report there were around 100 people prawning last Saturday night with everyone getting a great feed.

img
Mac Kefford also fished Lake Tyers in the Aqua Cup, and won best flathead and best bream with these couple of stonkers going 84cm and 42cm respectively. A couple of crackers Mac; well done!

EILDON
img
Dan Sheard and Bonnie had some great success targeting the Murray cod over the past week. Dan and Bonnie spent some time trolling around Eildon and came up tight with a couple of beauties, Bonnie landed her first ever cod which measured 53cm and Dan’s fish went 81cm. Dan reports that purple hard body lures did the damage.

PORT WELSHPOOL
img

Kozzi and Huff were recently down at Port Welshpool, but unfortunately due to the wind they were unable to get outside. The boys ended up fishing near the ramp and Kozzi hooked this chunky flathead whilst throwing a soft plastic around.

BEMM RIVER
img

Staff member Riley Hood fished Bemm River on the weekend and had great success catching heaps of bream and some very respectable flathead. Riley was casting Jackson Athlete 55s and OSP bent minnow 76's across the flats and weed beds.

AROUND THE STATE
img
Simon Rinaldi from Red Hot Fishing Charters has had a ripper start to his marlin season tagging 6 fish on his first day! Simmo had an epic season last year and he plans to back up his good form this year. Best of luck Simmo!
