TUNA
PORTLAND
img
Matt Boulton from Fish On Charters got back amongst the bluefin this weekend and reports that there are fish stretched from Bridgewater to Port Fairy which has ensured all of his customers a heavy bag of fillets. Great work Matt!

img
Mitch Bertacchini from Online Fishing Charters continued to dominate the Portland tuna this week with good amounts of fish landed around the Cape Nelson area. Red and pink skirts stood out for Mitch.

With the two boats running for Red Hot Fishing Charters, Simon Rinaldi and Matty Harris are leaving a definite dent in the local tuna population! There weren’t as many big fish around this week, but there were as many schoolies as you could poke a stick at! The boys are having great success in 40-80m of water south east of Portland towards Julia Percy Island. Small skirts such as the Pakula Uzy’s are working quite well.

img
Matt Cini had a successful week with plenty of tuna coming aboard Reel Time. UV coloured Rapala Xraps worked well for Matt this week.

The crew from Sharkmen Fishing Charters were back in the thick of things throughout the week and sent their customers home with more than enough tuna fillets. Good friend of the shop, Dougie Bauer hopped aboard this weekend and got a good workout from some hard hitting bluefin.

LYSAUGHTS

img
Matty Stewart took a couple of his good mates out for a bash on the winter reds and they were not disappointed! Jarrad Kennard was the first in line and what a monster he hooked himself into! Jarrad’s fish tipped the scales at 9kg, what a beast! No more than 10 minutes later it was MJ’s turn and while fish 6kg fish was not as big, it was more than respectable! Fresh squid heads did the damage.

STONEY POINT
img

Michael was stoked to land this lovely 7kg snapper out from Stoney Point on Sunday morning. Michael reports that the fresh squid he had caught earlier definitely paid dividends.
