Wayne Sharrock from Sharkmen Fishing Charters is this week’s “catch of the week” of the monster tuna taken aboard “Imagine That” over the weekend. Sharky wasn’t the angler on the rod, but he is a skipper that has worked tirelessly throughout the season to find that big one for his customers! We are thrilled for you mate, congrats!

With the number of big fish being taken at Portland over the weekend, Simon Rinaldi from Red Hot Fishing Charters had an itch for a yet another monster tuna, so with a couple of days to spare, he hooked up the boat and headed to Portland with his deck hand Matty Harris. It wasn’t long til the tuna whisperers found the fish and in no time they were hooked into battle with this mammoth weighing in at 112kg. Awesome fishing boys!

img

Well done to skipper Dave Standing and Goepel on the rod for catching this 109kg beast from Portland. The boys hauled this cracker aboard on Tuesday morning before taking it back to the ramp to be weighed. Goepel has spent three years searching for the ton, well done guys!

img

Amy Jobson and Robbie Adamo landed these two barrels in sequence weighing 83 and 103kg. You may remember Amy’s catch from earlier this season when that cracker photo was floating around of the crew hauling a 150kg tuna into their 17L Haines Hunter. Great to see them back in the action.

img

Brian Nolen and Thrank Madeo got their arms stretched by these two beasts! 88kg and 112kg were the weights of both these fish which hasn’t been a common occurrence over the past couple of seasons. It is definitely good to see a variety of sizes. Well done fellas!

img

There is definitely no shortage of big bluefin currently at Portland! Andrew Borg landed this fantastic fish on Wednesday. The majority of fish seem to be coming 60-100m of water and bigger skirts are getting the job done.

img

Godfrey Strong got down to business on Wednesday and landed this 76kg bluefin earlier on in the morning. Great work mate!

img

Andrew Boot, Aaron De Groot and Kingsley Van Kuyl cracked the ton with this lovely bluefin that weighed in at 105kg. Cracker fish fellas, well done boys!

FLINDERS
img

Kozzi and Huff got a whiff that the big squid had shown up in the Flinders area so the boys dropped the boat in and shot down for a squid onslaught. Within two minutes of fishing, Kozzi’s rod loaded up and this monster squirter fell victim to his white ika squid jig. Great job fellas!
