Paul Worsteling is currently fishing in Townsville with Danny from Tackleworld Townsville. The mission was to catch a milkfish and it only took an hour. The boys used bread on a size 8 hook and fished in one of the local housing estate lakes right in the middle of town. Another tick off the bucket list for the Ifishtv crew.

THE RIP

Now this is cool! Moe from the Bass Strait Blueys speared these cracking tuna out of The Rip on Wednesday with skipper James Evans from Bagout putting him onto the fish.

Matt Cini from Reel Time Fishing Charters headed back to The Rip this week in search of the Kings, but once he found it was tough, the crew headed offshore and had fun on the bluefin tuna near Barwon Heads. Matt reports the fish can be tough so small skirts are working the best!

Josh Stoll and Matt Cassar were out looking for the bluefin on the weekend and found this nice fish out off Barwon Heads. Josh was very happy to land this cracker! Small 4'' Skirts and X rap 20s the stand out lures.

Mitch Bertacchini from Online Fishing Charters proved you don’t have to travel far to catch bluefin tuna! Mitch found big schools of fish out from Flinders and even managed a few while casting stick baits!

Brad Burns fished with some mates over the weekend in search of the bluefin tuna out from Flinders. The group fished in 40m of water keeping 6 bluefin and released a couple. All the fish were caught trolling small skirts.

Olya Borch had a successful Western Port Whiting Challenge taking out the ladies mystery bag section. Olya managed some beautiful whiting on the Saturday with the biggest measuring 46cm and out fished her partner 10:1 Love ya work Olya!

Josh Kelly stumbled across some chunky whiting while fishing the Middle Spit this week. Pipi and squid the stand out bait, well done Josh!

WESTERN PORT WHITING CHALLENGE

Congratulations to all 259 competitors in this year’s Whiting Challenge. Over 1,600 whiting were caught for a total weight of 556kg.

The biggest fish went 778g caught by Mark Landrigan, heaviest fish by a female was 650g caught by Karen Cobb; heaviest fish by a girl was 638g. A big congratulations to young Tarj Rozite too, for winning the boat, motor and trailer package.

Paul and Leon landed this great feed of flathead and a respectable gummy shark while fishing near Port Melbourne in perfect conditions last Wednesday. Biggest flatty was 51cm and the gummy was a nice 85cm. Great stuff fellas!

Sam Neguib finally broke the Neguib curse when he landed this 6kg red while fishing off Brighton this week. Great fish Sam!

Jayson Turner from Pro Red Fishing Charters reports that the snapper are beginning to heat back up with some good numbers of fish out from Mornington. Pilchard and squid have been the best baits for Jayson.

Wayne and Ian fished out from Mornington this week and within no time at all had a beautiful bag of 20 squid in the boat. Well done guys!

Trevor Fanning headed out in search of some snapper on Saturday and was rewarded with this chunky 5+kg model while fishing out from Clifton Springs. Trevor reports that pilchards got the job done on this guy.

MURRAY GOULBURN JUNCTION

Adrian caught this stonking Murray cod last Saturday evening while fishing at the junction of the Murray & Goulburn rivers. Adrian’s Murray cod measured 110cm and after a few happy snaps he returned the Cod back into the river. That's one to remember!

Staff members Greg Smith and Jesse Matthias ventured up to Lake Eildon this week to target some iconic natives! The boys fished in some stella conditions on Tuesday and were rewarded with some lovely fish! Greg landed a beautiful cod at 75cm on the troll and Jesse managed this absolute pig of a yellowbelly on an Old Mate Lure. Love ya work boys!

Staff member Zach headed off on Monday to try some trout fishing in the Tarago River. While throwing small plastics around Zach caught this nice blackfish! Generally only caught on worms drifted down un-weighted it was a pleasant surprise. However the great day was shattered as Zach unfortunately lost a nice trout when his treble straightened.

Staff member Adam Ring and his father Trevor have took a well deserved break and headed down to Lake Tyers with their Kayaks on the weekend. The boys caught some beautiful fish Saturday morning on Fuze soft plastics with the best fish being this 85cm monster of a Flathead.

Anthony Forster from Fisheries Victoria fished Lake Tyers last Saturday and landed this cracker 70cm dusky flathead while chucking soft plastics in the shallows. Anthony was fishing the annual staff comp and reports 16 anglers landed 270 flathead. Lake Tyers – On fire!

Congratulations to Adrian Gruendler from the South Gippsland Game Fishing Club on catching this broadbill swordfish weighing 170.2kg off Mallacoota on 37kg line class, this capture is a pending Australian, Victorian and club record. Well done mate.

Chris Zammit did exceptionally well while fishing the Greenvale Sport and Game Fishing Club competition at Lake Mulwala over the weekend. Chris was stoked when he boated this mammoth 109cm Murray cod. Great work mate!
