If you read our last report, you would know that Paul and Casey Stoner were in Aitutaki, in the Cook Islands. We received the photo’s off Paul this week and what a trip they ended up having! Bonefish on both fly and lures and monster GT’s on surface popper’s, you couldn’t ask for a more unbelievable trip. Paul would like to thank Mike & Ine, the team at Aituatki Village, E2 and family and of course all of the beautiful islanders for making them feel so welcome. We hope the next trip is a staff trip!

Michael Buxton and Andy Evans fished aboard Online Fishing Charters on Thursday Morning and got some nice kings to 65cm. Jigs have been doing the damage and the Dogtooth Skirted Jigs are perfect!

Great work by young gun, Michael Lazaris, who got this cracking 6.5kg kingy at the rip. Michael fished with his father Athen and the boys managed 7 fish for the trip.

Good customer Bill Cai caught this whopping 1.2m kingfish on Saturday near Seal Rocks. Bill caught his fish trolling the new Samaki Pacemaker lures in the mackerel colour. Well done Bill, fantastic fish.

PORT FAIRY

Good Customer Tam Missen had a cracking trip down at Port Fairy this week with his son Tait and good friends Chris Earle and Paul Azzopardi. The boys headed down hoping for the early blue fin run, but with no luck they changed their tactics and headed to Julia Percy Island to hit the kings. Tam reports that many of the locals to the area struggled to find fish on jigs and trolling lures, but as soon as the boys dropped down a few livies, the kings just could not resist! Well done boys!
MARLIN MAGIC!
LAKES ENTRANCE

Good customers to the shop, Christian, Rob and Mel Styles headed down to lakes entrance with Kelvin and Mitch Bertacchini from Online Fishing Charters for a quick trip. Leaving Thursday arvo and coming back Friday, the group didn’t waste any time on the water and headed straight out behind the cobia oil rig and landed this beauty of a marlin! Christian and Rob were the two on the rod, but the battle was truly a team effort. Well done to all, fantastic fishing!

The Cassar boys made the most of the Vic marlin bite and headed over to Lakes Entrance to make the trek out to the rigs. They landed this pearler of a striped marlin on a skip bait and a special congrats goes to Chris Cassar as this was his first ever striped marlin. Well done mate!

Adrian Raucci landed this cracking marlin off Port Stephens this week weighing in at 65kg. 5 more fish were also caught and released for the trip.

Kevin Spalding with a cracking elephant fish caught out from Warneet. In the next coming weeks, we are sure we will be seeing plenty more of these beautiful creatures.

MIDDLE SPIT

Theo Hatzis fished with good mates Steve and Aaron Sunday afternoon and managed a quality bag of 40 King George whiting ranging from 42-48cm. All fish were taken on pipis in about 10m of water before they ran out of bait and had to leave.
HASTINGS

Laura and Amelia headed out with their father from Hastings on Saturday with whiting and gummies in mind. The girls were successful in finding their whiting and a few pinkies but were unable to get their arms bent on a gummy shark. Next time girls!

TANKERTON

Prior to taking his mates out, Theo Hatzis fished in good conditions Saturday evening off Tankerton and was not disappointed with a nice bag of pinkies to 35cm and whiting to 46cm before hitting the calamari.

FLINDERS

Peter Kasidiaris found some nice patches of calamari and cuttlefish from the Flinders pier this week. Peter reported that gold foil jigs have been the stand out lately.

Plenty of good land based fishing is happening around the Half Moon Bay area lately. Anthony Torpy sent this photo through of 3 nice snapper to 45cm and a 2.7kg salmon! All fish were caught on fresh mullet. Great work Anthony!

Well done to Alan Jones on the capture of this 19kg gummy shark caught in the west channel near Queenscliff. Alan reports that a fresh salmon chunk fooled this big girl.

Michael Lazaris features again in this week’s fishing report alongside his sister, Sue. Together the pair managed 23 whiting, bagged out on calamari and also landed an octopus! Great work guys, keep up the great work.

The blue fin tuna have rocked up in numbers at Portland and they are close to shore! We are hearing reports that even kayakers are getting amongst them. Surface lures and jigs have been working exceptionally well lately opposed to trolling skirts around all day, and it’s a lot more fun on the lighter gear!

Dean De Rooden caught this beautiful 40cm redfin trolling a deep diving purple hard body from Collar Bay in Eildon.
GOULBURN RIVER

Staff member Dylan Sutherland has been having a lot of success fishing the Goulburn River lately and he wasn’t disappointed on Wednesday landing his PB rainbow! Dyl has been using shallow diving minnows such as the Daiwa TD minnow which you can see buried in the fishes mouth.
DEVILBEND RESERVOIR

Staff members Garry and Jesse skipped down to Devilbend Reservoir hand in hand this week and had a cracker little session on surface lures. The boys landed a heap of small estuary perch and some decent redfin. Devilbend is well and truly alive with fish.

Frank Milito found his clients a good mixed bag this week on small hard body lures. Plenty of quality sized bream to 40cm and big schools of silver trevally are prevalent in the estuary at the moment.

Smokies Angling Club held their annual XXXX Gold Classic this week with much success. Joel Keating took out the RSL Fishing Classic junior section with his 76cm murray cod, while Sean Marshall topped off a great months fishing and landed a cracking 79cm cod. However, the senior section was taken out by a 76 year old lady with a 96cm cod! Well done to all.

The 6th annual Narooma Flathead Challenge was held last weekend and the biggest catch went to angler Paul Mayer from Team Jigman for his 89cm flathead caught on Day 1 up the top of the estuary. The best bycatch award went to Ciaran Doolan with a cobia caught inside the estuary!
