Well done to Zak Miller on the capture of this huge King George Whiting which measured 54cm and weighed a whopping 1.33kg. One of the biggest KGW’s we have seen out of Western Port in a long long time!

PAUL'S FISHING

Paul has been getting stuck into a variety of different species in Esperance, Western Australia this week, including the stunning blue devil fish, black bream, blue groper, blue morwong and abundances of BIG salmon off the beach. Some of the salmon pushed the 6 kilo mark. Keep an eye out for the IFISH TV episodes from Esperance when the series returns in a couple of months.

Zak Miller and Chris Brophy fished the top end of Western Port last weekend and managed 30 whiting between them, including this 54cm monster which weighed in at 1.33kg!! Not too many kilo whiting are heard of and this is definitely a trophy fish. Well done Zac.

MIDDLE SPIT

Esther Lee Nickless fished with Dad, Colin Nickless, off the middle spit this week and managed a good bag of whiting and some small salmon. Best bait was a pipi and squid cocktail.
HASTINGS

Shaun Furtiere from Think Big Fishing Charters has found a few mixed bags off Hastings this week, with good numbers of school size whiting, the odd rock flathead and also some schools of salmon to 1kg

Johnny with a solid gummy shark caught between Browns reef and the South channel at Tootgarook. Johnny was fishing the full moon using a squid and octopus cocktail bait.

Matt Cini from Reel Time Fishing Charters has been hitting good numbers of big gummies when he’s not targeting the kingfish. Matt reports that he has landed 3 big girls over 20kg for his clients this week fishing around the south channel.

The Rip is definitely in full swing now! As Mitch Bertacchini from Online fishing charters found out during the week. The boys have been smashing the fish on jigs. There has been plenty of bigger fish caught this week and people are finding they don’t have to battle through the rats.

Matt Cini from Reel Time Fishing Charters has been getting amongst the kingfish at the Rip again this week. This fish was caught by Matt’s friend Aaron using live bait, but Matt reports that jigging has been the best method lately.

Matt Prokopiev and his Dad headed to Kilcunda on Saturday and caught a good bag of Australian salmon including this one that went 55cm. Bluebait has been the stand out bait.

Fisheries Victoria staff held their annual fishing comp down at Lake Tyers last weekend, and there were some cracker fish caught. Mark Edwards, acting Fisheries Chief took out the honours with a 79cm dusky, All up, 33 fishers caught 108 fish including 93 Flathead, 13 bream. Most flathead were taken on soft plastics in the shallows. 12 flathead were over 50cm and 4 over 70cm.

Craig Begg with his first ever kingfish that went 62cm and was caught inside the Portland harbor last Wednesday. Strada Tempest lures have proven themselves deadly in the shallow waters around Portland, kingfish just can’t resist them!

HEPBURN SPRINGS

Albie de Rooden caught this 40cm brown trout on a bunch of worms in the Jim Crow Creek out the back of Hepburn Springs. What a cracker fish by the young fella, well done Albie.

GOULBURN RIVER

It’s not always the biggest fish that make the report, but at least Tim Burton can finally say he has caught a Murray cod. This little cod was caught on the Goulburn River near Shepparton. We hope this is the first of many for Tim.

Staff member Garry took his family down to Devilbend in some windy conditions on the weekend, but he toughed it out and managed to get his son Harry onto a nice little redfin.

POWLETT RIVER

Brian Chambers caught this 38cm bream from the Dalyston footbride on the Powlett River. This is quite a lively system of late and bream can be targeted on both bait and lures, with Strada Piccola lures doing quite well.

Check out this little Tackers face with a cracking 68cm snapper caught out of Port Welshpool. Squid and cured eel have been getting the bigger fish lately and the after dark bite has also been successful.

Wayne Sharrock from Sharkmen Fishing Charters has just motored up from Melbourne to Bermagui for the marlin season. On the way, he fished various locations. The weather wasn’t the kindest, but he did manage this mako along the way.

Frank Milito from East Gippsland Charters found plenty of bream for his customers during the week despite the rainy conditions. Frank has predominantly been fishing Lake Tyers and Bemm River and he reports both systems are thriving. Instinct twitch blades have been working quite well.

Lindsay Hinselwood caught this whopping 90cm flathead out of the Maroochy River at the North Shore in Yaroomba on the Sunshine coast. Lindsay was drowning some baits with a beer in the other hand when his rod took off and he landed this big girl before giving her a kiss and putting her back to live another day.

Looks like Port Stephens is the place to be at the moment. Simon Rinaldi from Red Hot Fishing Charters had an awesome day on Wednesday catching his clients 2 Black marlin and 7 dolphin fish. He reports there is loads of bait around and with a good run of weather coming up we should see more great fishing.

On Thursday, Simon had Trevor Holmes from Toolondo on board. The boys missed out on the marlin, but landed a couple of hammer heads that were released.

The dolphin fish or mahi mahi are on fire at Narooma currently with fish being caught to 10 kg while out chasing marlin.

Greg Imlach has been in Tasmania for his 21st year and has been having some success fishing in the Penstock Lagoon. Greg caught this 4lb rainbow drifting in the bubble lines flicking dry flies.
