PAUL’S FISHING

Paul continues where he left off in Exmouth. Fishing with Matty Gates and Olympic swimmer Eamon Sullivan; Paul, Jet and Cristy were able to get stuck into some epic golden trevally action in superb conditions along the shallows off Ningaloo Reef. Along with the trevs, Paul stumbled across this pretty ornate cray which was just way too pretty to take for dinner….crazy! We hope to see plenty more big ones Paul and we wish Jetty a massive happy 9th birthday!

Good friend of the shop, Paul De Lisle gathered a few of his work mates last week and hopped aboard Steve Johnston’s Ace Fishing Charters. Paul reports the fishing was fairly tough throughout the day, but they did manage 20 odd whiting and a few quality rock flathead including this one caught by Frank.

Shaun Furtiere from Think Big Fishing Charters put his clients onto some delicious King George whiting throughout the week. Shaun reports that he did have to work a bit harder and move a fair bit for his fish, but it was all worth it in the end! Great work Shaun.

Lucas Davies from the Tooradin Angling Club caught this tasty calamari from the quail bank on Sunday. Lucas was using a red foil jig in size 3.0 when his rod loaded up. Great work mate!

Andrew Ketelaar spent some hours on the water in the Warneet area last week and was rewarded with this lovely 8kg mulloway. Andrew was able to seduce this secret silver with a live garfish. Top effort mate!

Alan fished the Rhyll area on Sunday night and managed this quality flathead while fishing the out-going tide in 11m of water.

MERRICKS BEACH

Josh Hodges went for a fish last Sunday night at Merricks beach with a mate and about 1.30am he pulled in this beauty, his first elephant shark and land based at that. Well done Josh!

BASS STRAIT

Keith Diprose from Big Time Fishing Charters spent Saturday searching for the kings. With livies in the tank, Skitzy headed around the Island, but with no joy after 6 hours it was back to the Eastern Entrance for some squid and he didn't disappoint with 17 quality calamari. Sunday was mako day and it seemed they didn't want to play either. Skitzy was able to get amongst some action however and put his clients onto some beautiful flathead and gummies.

Young Aidan De Giovanni managed his first calamari from the St Leonards Pier. Aidan was stoked with his catch and reports it came on a yamashita jig.

INDENTED HEAD

Chiara fished out from Indented Head with her Dad on Sunday where she caught this chunky 45cm whiting. From the look on her face, Chiara is definitely hooked on fishing now!

PORT PHILLIP NORTH

Penni and Jason spent the long weekend fishing the northern end of Port Phillip Bay and Penni came up tight with this rather large flatty. Great work guys.

Jayson Turner from Pro Red Fishing Charters landed this beautiful 7kg snapper while out from Frankston last Friday morning. The big snapper are starting to show up again and it could shape up to be a fantastic late run of fish.

Matt Cini from Reel Time Fishing Charters stumbled across some thick schools of snapper out from Mt Martha last week. Matt reports the majority of fish are around the 3kg mark with the odd bigger fish in the mix.

Margaret Whitworth headed out in search of a feed of flatties last weekend and in amongst a good bag of fish, Margie landed this beauty on a fresh squid strip in 8m of water out near the Rye channel.

Staff member David Kramer was at it again last weekend taking advantage of the good run of King George whiting on the Mornington Peninsula. Fishing off The Sisters in 3m of water, David managed a good bag all on cuttlefish baits.

Steffen had a good day on the whiting just off the edge of the channel out from Blairgowrie last weekend. Steffen reports fish to 39cm taking pipi and squid on the run out tide.

LAKES ENTRANCE

The run of Victorian Marlin continues out off Lakes Entrance at the moment. These boys travelled out near the oil rigs to land this cracker of a Marlin. Go Victoria!

PORTLAND

Matt Boulton from Fish On Charters is back into the action after a break. Matt dropped his boat in at Portland this week and decided to head out wide in search of the bigger fish. Matt stumbled across this fatty of 35kg just east of the Horse Shoe in 300m of water. Matt reports that an X-rap 30 did the damage.

The tuna were thick this week with plenty of fish landed in as shallow as 10m of water. This model measured 108cm and was taken on a 3” soft plastic cast into a busting school. Great effort on the kayak!

LAKE NILLAHCOOTIE

Clay and his good friend, Daniel fished at Lake Nillahcootie over the weekend in search of some Murray cod. The fishing was quite rewarding with clay landing a lovely 64cm fish and Daniel landed this ever so slightly smaller 63cm model. The boys had great success trolling Stump Jumper’s and other diving hard body lures.

CLIFFY ISLAND

Kozzi and Huff ventured out from Port Welshpool and headed to the Cliffy Island group where they picked up some good numbers of kingfish. Most fish were 65-70cm with a couple of bigger fish which busted them off. The pair had their success while slow trolling small squid in 15m of water. Kozzi and Huff also report that they were pleased to see the fisheries officers checking everyone’s catch.

Glenn Cank had a successful outing while fishing with his good mate Craig at Toora. Glenn landed this tasty gummy shark along with some whiting, flathead and yakkas. Love ya work fellas!

Rob W and Tim Laird caught some quality flathead and bream from the Fishermans Jetty at Lake Tyers. The pair were able to land this lovely flatty but unfortunately lost a bigger one trying to lift it onto the jetty! Next time fellas!

Congratulations to staff member Nathan Peterson who on Saturday tagged his very first marlin after plenty of trips and years spent trying. Nathan is usually very experienced in catching donuts and over the weekend he definitely proved himself wrong!

Paul and David fished from the Bermagui break wall last week where they picked a lovely 1m school shark and a 55cm salmon. David’s salmon fell to a coltsniper shimano lure cast out on his 9ft spin rod.

James, Matty, Justin and Bubba caught their first marlin while fishing aboard blue steel in Bermagui over the weekend. This quality model fell to a skip bait.

Simon Rinaldi from Red Hot Fishing Charters had a pretty successful week with marlin to 200kg and some big dolphin fish among the action whilst up at Port Stephens. Skip baits and live baits have been working the best for Simmo.

Justin Tapner headed north in search of his first ever barramundi. Justin flew to Darwin and fished at Shady Camp where he landed his first ever barra and the account was opened nicely with this fish measuring 89cm.
