What hasn’t Paul been up to this week? We saw a glimpse of what Paul was fishing for in the NT last week and he continued his form with some quality barra while fishing with Shane Compain at Shady Camp. Paul then headed west into WA where he has spent a couple of days aboard the Le Cras family commercial crayfish boat. Love ya work Paul!

Cooper Ellis was a very happy young man when he landed his very first squid from the Hastings pier this week. This tasty specimen fell victim to a brown daiwa nude jig. Cooper was smiling for days!

MIDDLE SPIT

Shaun Furtiere from Think Big Fishing Charters found some great numbers of whiting up and along the Middle Spit this week. Long time clients Robert Coillet & Johnny Zhu stepped aboard and weren’t disappointed. Tortoise Head Bank and Tankerton are areas that are also fishing quite well.

Allan and Graham had a lovely Saturday evening fishing from Corinella. The pair was pleased to bring home a great bag of pinkies caught on the run in tide using pipi’s and pilchard.

BASS STRAIT

Keith Diprose from Big Time Fishing Charters set his sights on the mako’s over the weekend and came home with the goods in some beautiful conditions. Skitzy was able to keep the crew happy with this feisty 15kg mako taken on a bonito. The flatties were also in good numbers which made for a bit of fun and a good feed. Skitzy reports he found some warm blue water in 70m out from Cape Schanck which produced his fish.

PORT PHILLIP BAY
MORNINGTON

Greg Torpy stumbled across a solid patch of pinkies while fishing from the rocks at Mornington on Saturday evening. Greg landed 20 fish between 30 and 45cm all on fresh mullet. Greg released all fish but 2.

BLAIRGOWRIE

Mogens Rasmussen had a good day out last Sunday off The Sisters at Blairgowrie. Mogens reports good size and numbers of calamari taking green Clicks jigs in size 3.

SORRENTO

Staff member David Kramer reports good numbers of King George whiting amongst the Sorrento moorings on Saturday. For those of you who attended the whiting talk night last Wednesday night, David's number one tip was cuttlefish for bait and it certainly paid dividends on the weekend!

While waiting for the right tides at the Rip, Matt Cini has been targeting the squid around the Sorrento area and amongst the squid have been some beautiful cuttlefish! Hayabussa squid jigs are working a treat according to Matt.

PORTSEA

There has been some solid amounts of whiting around the shallows of Portsea. This fantastic bag of fish was landed in and amongst the boat moorings.

THE RIP

There’s been no rest aboard Matt Cini’s Reel Time Fishing Charters, Matt was able to nail plenty more kingfish for some very happy customers out of the Rip last week. Hayabussa Jack Eye jigs in 150g did majority of the damage.

The fish must be thick; even good customer Jarrod Day can catch Kings in The Rip. Jarrod fished aboard Reel Time Fishing Charters on the weekend and with the assistance of Matt Cini managed to catch a couple of nice Kings.

Pete Cooke from the Mitcham Angling Club has been scoring a few rat kings from the rip of late. Metal jigs 150gram+ have been working the best.

OFFSHORE

Mitch Bertacchini from Online Fishing Charters had a sensational day on the water last week. Mitch spent the morning at the Rip where he had 4 and 5 way hook ups on rat kingfish which he reports was his most successful outing on them this season. Mitch then pushed out offshore where he drifted for a mako and before long, this beauty was doing cartwheels back to the boat! Love ya work mate!

PORTLAND

Can we call it tuna season yet? Michael Strzelczyk landed his first Victorian tuna over the weekend. Michael was fishing in 38m east of Lawrence rocks when this 11kg bluefin took a liking to his 4” pink skirt.

WURDIBULOC RESERVE

Michael Evans from Geelong landed some great redfin and rainbow trout from Wurdibuloc Reserve and surrounding lakes in South West Victoria this week. Michael’s success has been coming on 4.5” Nories Spoon Tail Shads and Black and Gold Power Shads. Great work Michael.

KING PARROT CREEK

Carmelo has been spending a bit of time camping alongside the King Parrot Creek. Carmelo reports the water has been a bit low, but there has still been some good numbers of small brown trout.

13 year old, Cameron fished with his family down at Inverloch over the weekend. Cameron had a ball landing some snook and this cool little octopus. Great work Cameron.

Mitcham angling club member Con Menheere managed this beauty down in Corner Inlet on Friday. Con also managed a couple of table sized gummies to compliment his snapper. Love ya work mate.

Lake Tyers has been in red hot form the past few weeks as Jason Culmer found out last Thursday. Jason landed this beautiful dusky flathead casting a weed-less rigged soft plastic into knee deep water.

GLENELG

Big Al from South Australia sent through a few photos of the quality snapper he has been landing from the West beach at Glenelg this week. Al reports that once the sun goes down, the fish come straight on the chew. Top work mate.

KING ISLAND

The crew from Proline Charters have been nailing some quality striped trumpeter from the depths off King Island during the week. This model weighed approximately 10kg. Mark Kemp also got amongst the action with a bigger 12kg model.

EDEN

Good customer, Andrew Tartaglia fulfilled his dream on the weekend when he landed his first striped Marlin out from Eden. Estimated at about 100kg this fish was definitely a great capture!
Crew was Andrew, Frank, Anthony and Luke. Great effort all round guys!

BERMAGUI

Shauna Rohan emailed us this week thanking staff members Scott and Harley for setting her up with a Shimano Saragosa 25,000 and Tcurve jig 400. Shauna was able to break in her outfit on the weekend and what a way to do it! Shauna’s marlin weighed in at 101kg and was taken on a live slimey at the 12 mile reef. Fantastic work Shauna!

Trent Dickinson was stoked to land his first marlin with his old man, Paul. Trent’s black marlin weighed in at 76kg and was taken on a skip bait. Staff member Harley set up Trent’s outfit for him and it performed well for him on the day.

PORT STEPHENS

After a slow start to the season, Simon Rinaldi from Red Hot Fishing Charters reports that the marlin bite has really heated up out from Port Stephens the past week. Simmo had a successful day on Tuesday sinking some tags into a few fish and unfortunately losing a much bigger fish.

PEEL ISLAND QLD

Rick Johnson managed a more unusual encounter on his Shimano rod and reel when he pulled up this 2kg lobster near Peel Island in Moreton Bay. Rick’s mouth was definitely watering!
