David Borninkhof is this week’s “catch of the week” with his amazing capture of 2 monster mulloway. David has put in the hard yards over the past couple of years and can now finally say he’s accomplished a milestone when he came up tight with 2 crackers weighing 26 and 27kg respectively.

WESTERN PORT
HASTINGS

Frank and Craig popped into the shop after their mornings antics on Wednesday. The boys fished the Hastings area where they pulled up these two fantastic snapper weighing in at 5 and 8.8kg! Frank and Craig report that both fish were caught on a fresh yakka head. Lovely fish boys!

Adam fished in perfect conditions this week and nailed this quality 7.8kg snapper on fresh squid during the incoming tide. Love your work Adam!

Glenn was licking his lips when he pulled up this tasty piece of fresh flake during the week. Glenn was fishing the incoming tide at Hastings and this lovely little gummy fell victim to a fresh squid strip.

Mitcham Angling club had a good contingent of members head out from Hastings this week and results were good for a few, especially Pat Adair who landed his PB snapper of 3.5kg. Robbie Coker also managed 35 whiting to 44cm. The whiting have definitely picked up through the last week which is showing some good signs for the upcoming season!
LYSAUGHTS

Kozzi and Huff fished the Lysaughts area on Sunday and brought home a lovely mixed bag for the table including gummy, whiting, flathead, trevally and pinkies. The boys mentioned that they have never caught as many good sized trevally as they have this season. Western Port is alive and well!

MIDDLE SPIT

Saturday saw Keith Diprose from Big Time Fishing Charters hit the whiting for the first time this season and there were smiles all round when he put his clients onto them! For the morning, Skitzy managed in excess of 50 whiting ranging from 35 to 44cm. Fresh mussel was the bait of choice.

Keith Diprose from Big Time Fishing Charters got the job done yet again this week. Young Jack hopped on board with his old man for a Sunday charter and landed his first ever red on a fresh whiting head. Jack wouldn’t stop talking about his Western Port catch and from all reports is now hooked on fishing!

Congratulations to good customer, David Borninkhof who fulfilled his dream of catching the elusive Western Port jew on Wednesday night. Borno has spent many hours on the water in search of these beasts and his hard work definitely paid off because he didn’t just land 1 fish, he landed 2! Borno was fishing solo when his rod buckled over with one fish, and mid fight a second rod started to scream! It was an amazing effort to battle these 2 monsters of 26 and 27kg! Fish of these caliber are few and far between, well done mate!

Staff member, Nathan Peterson had a hot session out on the water this week with a group of mates who hadn't fished before. The boys launched out of Corinella and caught in excess of 25 pinkies and snapper for the day! Plenty of fish were released and they took home a great feed!

Andrew Porter caught this ripper while fishing the corals Sunday morning. Andrew was a Port Phillip fan, but has now been converted after catching this cracker on a freshly caught octopus leg.

COWES

Craig Miller had some success on the reds Saturday night when he pulled up his bag with the biggest weighing 5.4kg and also this fish with a nasty big hole in its head which we believe would have been caused by a big squid. Cool stuff, well done Craig!

Ian Wattfield had his first ever trip on the snapper this week with his good mate Joe Mizzi. Ian was over the moon landing 2 beautiful reds to 5kg out from Altona. Well done fellas!

EDITHVALE

Staff member, David Kramer headed out with good mates, Michael Buxton and Andy Evans for an early morning session before work on Wednesday. Dave reports the first 3 fish took under a minute to hook up after anchoring, the biggest going 6kg which took the bait 5m under the boat while in 18m of water! You know it’s a good bite when their feeding just under the surface!
CHELSEA

There has been some good fish coming out of the Chelsea area this week as Glen Wassink found out. Glen spent an hour sounding in 11m until he found a couple of arches that he dropped anchor on. Glen reports he was plagued by small fish before dark, and then by the lice after dark! However, Glen sat it out and reaped the rewards when he pulled up this cracker of 8.9kg taken on a fresh yakka.

Matt Boulton from Fish On Fishing Charters was in and amongst the Melbourne snapper action this week and put his clients onto some tasty snapper yet again. Matt reports that there are still some good sized fish kicking around, but the majority have been weighing around the 3kg mark. Keep up the good work Matt!

There were happy faces all round aboard Mitch Bertacchini’s Online Fishing Charters this week. Mitch reports there are good numbers of fish spread out straight off Carrum and they are starting to fire a little deeper.

Simon Rinaldi from Red Hot Fishing Charters had a special client jump aboard Red Hot this week and left a happy customer. World number 14 UFC fighter, Jared Rosholt hooked into some quality snapper before jumping on a plane back to the U.S. A great way to top off a big win on Sunday!

Matt Cini from Reel Time Fishing Charters report the snapper went off their head in perfect conditions Wednesday afternoon. Matt found plenty of fish schooled up around the Carrum area and it wasn’t hard to get them to go!

John Dafilis fished the spoil grounds out from Mornington this week and hooked into a couple of beauties around 5kg. John was anchored in 18m of water and both fish took a liking to silver whiting.

Tim Hepner has been finding some good fish around Mt Martha this week. Tim had a good session where he managed his bag with 2 fish at 6kg and reports that his sounder was lit up with solid arches.

GOULBURN RIVER

Fisheries Boss Travis Dowling hit the Goulburn River last weekend in search of Yellas. Trav found a few as well as some nice cod that were returned to the water. Talk is the Goulburn river will fire once Cod season opens on 1st December.

NEWLYN RESERVOIR

Tom Nguyen landed a couple of big reddies out of Newlyn Reservoir throughout the week. Tom reports he landed this lovely fish that measured 47.5cm and no less than 5 minutes later he managed another of 46cm. Great work Tom!

DEVILBEND

Kayla Branch tagged along with her dad, Shane who has been finding good numbers of trout at Devil Bend of late. Kayla was stoked when she managed to land her first brown trout on a pink Tassie devil. Love ya work Kayla!

PORT WELSHPOOL

Dave Johnson from the Thorpdale and District Angling Club had a good outing over the weekend with his family during their comp at Welshpool. Dave’s 5 year old, Casey Johnson landed her first gummy at 5kg and won the junior division. Dave’s wife, Jess also did well in the comp and took out the ladies section with a lovely gummy of about the same size. Great work team!

Matt Bright ventured down to Welshpool last week and found out what it had to offer. Port Welshpool has been a hotspot for big snapper this year and it has gone a bit unmentioned. Matt was stoked when he landed this 6kg snapper on a squid strip. Well done mate!

Johhny Lazzarro pulled a 90cm frog out of Wonboyn Lake this week during an annual trip with a few mates. The big duskys are starting to fire along the east coast so now is the time to get out and crack the metre mark!

DALMENY NSW

Joe Zappa landed this monster dusky while fishing near Dalmeny on Saturday. Joe battled this large lizard before dragging it ashore for a quick happy snap before reviving her and watching it disappear into the depths.

BLAKEHURST NSW

Peter took his young fella, George out in search of some bream over the weekend and put him onto the money with this horse. The boys were fishing near Tom Uglys Bridge next to Blakehurst NSW.

Simon has been having a ball on the pelagics up in North Queensland of late. Simon has been getting amongst some quality mackerel to 1 metre, large trevally and some monster cobia! Great work mate!
