Staff member Kallan Braid Ball made the last minute decision to head out with his old man on Wednesday night and it paid off with the snapper coming on the chew in the last hour of the run out tide. The boys landed 6 fish with the biggest about 4kg and then left them biting after catching a substantial feed!

LYSAUGHTS

Staff member Lachy Henstock headed out of Hastings Wednesday morning and dropped anchor off Lysaughts. It wasn’t long before he had rod buckles and multiple hook ups on snapper, the best going 6kg. Eden pilchards were the gun bait according to Lachy.

Good customer Brad Thompson headed out on Wednesday night with his son and son’s friend Ashton Penry who stole the show and boated this 90cm beast of a snapper! The boys were fishing in 4m of water when the rod buckled and Ashton was in for a good stretching! The fish wasn’t weighed, but at 90cm is estimated to be around 9kg. Well done guys!

Ben Swanson went out for a fish in Westernport last Wednesday and landed this 6.5kg snapper! Fishing the Corals area, the fish measured 81cm snapper.

Maree Bennett landed this cracking school shark while fishing for snapper at Silverleaves during the week. After taking this quick photo, Maree released the big girl to fight another day.

Andrew and Kedis spent a couple of days on the water down at Rhyll where the long hours on the water definitely paid off. The pair managed 7 reds to 6.5kg using fresh squid and silver whiting as bait. Great work fellas.

Justin Blythe was fishing from the sand at Somers when he landed this beautiful gummy shark with an 8/0 circle and a fresh chunk of trevally. Awesome effort land-based, well done Justin.

Lee and Tolly fished off Altona last week where they bagged out on snapper with the biggest weighing 5.5kg. All the action happened between 4 and 10pm on what was a successful night.

Lee Brickell caught this nice 3kg snapper while fishing the Ricketts Point area with pilchard being stand out bait. These sized fish are great fun on the light gear!

Jarrah O’Brien took the kayak out from Mordialloc this week and while fishing in 6m of water, Jarrah landed some beautiful pinkies to 42cm on soft plastics. With the westerly winds we have had, there are big numbers of fish in shallow as Jarrah found out.

Shaun Furtiere switched over to Port Phillip this week but his form didn’t change as he found enough PPB snapper to send his customers home with sore arms! 17m off Chelsea was the area of choice.

Matt Boulton from Fish On Charters has been making his mark on the Melbourne snapper this week as he managed to find the majority of his customers good bags. The fish are ranging in size for Matt but there has been quite a few between 3 and 4kg.

Mitch Bertacchini from Online Fishing Charters reports that the snapper are going well out from Carrum despite the wind making things challenging. 17m of water seems to be the favored depth of late.

It seems the wind was down early on Saturday and Jayson Turner from Pro Red Fishing Charters made the most of things landing plenty of fish for some happy customers. Jayson reports that since he has put in his new Simrad sounder, finding fish has never been so easy!
