Tam Missen is this weeks “catch of the week”. Tam put a lot of time and effort into catching this beast of a bluefin which weighed 105kg! Great way to bloody up the new boat.

PAULS FISHING

The Worsteling’s are currently visiting the Rapala factory in Finland and have been filming with a few of the Rapala staff for an upcoming episode of IFISH TV. Paul and Jet managed to catch themselves the mean looking northern pike while casting and trolling shallow running jointed minnows from Rapala. Paul reports Markku, Teemu and Mikko from Rapala Headquarters in Finland are just sensational at what they do, and have helped Paul and Jetty onto some nice fish.

Records were broken at Port MacDonnell this week, and it was Grant Maloney from Western Port Angling Club who landed the fish! The big barrel tuna which weighed in at 159kg is now a pending South Australian record and a new club record for WPAC according to 93 year old committee member Don Newman. The fish of a lifetime, well done mate!

A few of our staff members were down at Port MacDonnell chasing the barrel tuna this week and we received this pic from the boys. Unfortunately the boys are not the anglers who managed this barrel, but never the less a fantastic fish by all means, weighing in at 77kg. Well done to Trent from Maffra on this cracker fish.

Rooky and Youngy managed this cracker barrel after making the trip to Port MacDonnell from Warnambool. The boys had a double hook up but unfortunately Youngy lost his after an hour. This fish weighed in at 122kg.

Tam Missen was on a mission. Tam headed down to Port Mac with his son Tait in search of the fish of a lifetime and he persuaded Simon Rinaldi from Red Hot fishing charters to jump aboard to have a social fish. The boys weren’t fishing long before they hooked up on a monster but after not long unfortunately pulled the hook. About an hour later the rod went off again and Tam was connected to this cracking 105kg bluefin tuna. Tam reports that it was a team capture and would like to mention his young boy, Tait who was an absolute champion on the day. Congratulations guys!

Staff members Harley, Mark and Gerry headed to Port Mac to chase the big ones, but after some boat trouble the boys were late on the water. Gerry managed to catch his first tuna and he was stoked, they got a few school fish and a couple of albies, unfortunately no big fish but a good trip never the less.

Last Saturday, Simon Rinaldi from Red Hot Fishing Charters headed out with his crew, and being the barrel magnet that he is, got his crew onto a nice model that weighed the scales down to a nice 115.1kg. Nice fish!

Rod Nisbet fished in 200m off of Bridgewater Bay at Portland and landed this horse. The fish was not weighed, but estimated about 120kg.

Simon Rinaldi from Red Hot Fishing Charters has also been finding good numbers of albacore amongst the bluefin. Simmo fished in perfect conditions and sent his customers home very happy on Wednesday!

Matt Boulton from Fish On Charters has been smacking the bluefin off Portland and check this out, half a tuna! Matt reports when this fish was boat side, a massive bronzie decided it had a taste for some tuna. Great fish Matt, keep up the good work.

Eric and Oscar headed out from Warneet after stopping in at Tackle World Cranbourne to get their pipis. The boys had a good session catching a handful of tasty whiting and plenty of leatherjackets.

JOES ISLAND

Simon, Steve and Billy called into the shop on the weekend to weigh in their fish, and they were crackers weighing 7.2kg, 6.7kg and 5.9kg. All fish were taken on fresh yakkas and squid. Good signs of a late snapper season!

Staff Member Jesse Matthias has been fishing land based at Lang Lang this week and doing exceptionally well on the elephant fish at high tide. Jesse has been using the instinct prowler rigs to get the job done.

Jony Ai Ung fished with his good mate Geoffrey this week. After some solid marks on the sounder, the boys dropped anchor, and half an hour later, Jony came up tight with this 6kg red on a strip bait. Jony’s mate Geoffrey was equally as happy landing his first ever elephant fish.

Deklan managed to catch this cracker snook while targeting whiting at the Tortoise Head bank. The bay is littered with these snook at the moment and they are great gummy bait!

Staff member Kallan headed out from Ricketts Point again this week with good customer Daniel. The boys sounded up plenty of fish, unfortunately losing a couple of good ones to a seal. The pair still managed to take home a good feed.

Anthony Torpy did some bait collection at Mordialloc with some good success. Plenty of mullet around at the moment.

Regular customer, Glenn Lacy had a good little session at Balcombe Creek this week; Glenn managed 5 bream to 30cm using 4lb fluorocarbon leader and an un-weighted scrubworm.

Check this out! Andrew Spalding landed this 24kg school shark while he was fishing for snapper in 21m of water from Mt Martha. Andrew reports that the fish took a fresh salmon fillet on an instinct lumo snapper rig and it wrapped itself up on the burley bucket. Great stuff Andy!

Laura and Amelia were at it again. The girls headed out with their father and grandparents from St Leonards to target some whiting, they managed to find a hungry patch of fish along with some quality squid. Mussel was the best bait.

Customers Kozzi and Huff decided to try Southern Port Phillip for a change and had some good success while fishing at Sorrento. The boys managed a good feed of whiting and flathead.

Geoff Stock managed to land this big buck brown at Toolondo on Wednesday. There are plenty of good trout being caught at Toolondo, and as the weather cools down, the fishing heats up!

Paul and Rex Delisle have been fishing Eildon nonstop without success, but with plenty of perseverance the boys finally managed to land this cracker little cod on a black and green Stumpjumper. Well done boys!

Young Brodie and Sean had a good time at Eildon trolling white and pink Tassie Devils, the two young guns managed these lovely little rainbow trout. With the cooler mornings comes ideal trout trolling conditions at Lake Eildon with Tassie devils the best lure.

Little Gabriella Cusani caught this 36cm bream while fishing with her parents at Lake Tyers. The Cusani family managed good numbers of bream all on prawns.

While staff members, Mark, Gerry and Harley were fishing down at Port Mac in search of tuna, the boys sounded up some solid amounts of bait close to the bottom in about 70m of water so they decided to drop some baits down and within no time, Harley pulled up this beauty of a nanagai.
