TUNA
PORTLAND
img
There are plenty of bluefin about and Mitch Bertacchini from Online Fishing Charters is definitely amongst the thick of things. Mitch reports there are plenty of fish in close from 70 to 100m of water out from Cape Nelson. Samaki Pacemakers are working quite well.

With two boats running, Simon Rinaldi and Matty Harris from Red Hot Fishing Charters are sending their clients back down the highway with a bag of fillets and a big smile on their faces! The boys report that the fish are hitting smaller lures with the big amounts of small squid in the area at the moment.

Chris O’Connell fished out of Portland last Saturday and his crew all bagged out on bluefin while using a range of skirts and X-Raps in about 80m of water. All fish ranged from 15 to 18kg.

The crew from Sharkmen Fishing Charters were back at it again this week nailing plenty of tuna aboard Imagine That. Conditions were windy again this week so we hope to see it back off in the coming days.

WESTERN PORT
QUAIL BANK
img

Quail Bank has been producing some lovely calamari this week with the best results happening on the rising tide. The squid haven’t been too fussy with jig colour this week as a range of colours are working well.

FLINDERS
img
Western Port has been relatively slow this week due to the wind, however with those northerly winds, anglers were able to seek protection near flinders and have done quite well on whiting and calamari.

Anthony Torpy fished at Half Moon Bay in some cold conditions but managed to pull out 5 good salmon while using fresh mullet as bait. Anthony’s fish were all between 30 and 40cm.

PATTERSON LAKES
img
Staff member Kallan and good customer Dave had a great session flicking hard body lures for bream at Patterson Lakes on Saturday. The boys ended up with 13 fish in total with the biggest measuring 37cm. All fish were release at the end of the day.

Dan Brett landed some good numbers of salmon to 25cm while fishing near the mouth of the river using chicken for bait. As the water gets cooler, we will see quite a few more salmon entering the bay. Great work Dan.

MILDURA
img
Greg Motton was stoked when he landed this beautiful 81cm Murray cod near Mildura this week. Greg was surprised that the small hooks on his Ecogear vibe stood up to the power of this cracking fish. Great work Greg!

EILDON
img
Maison Blackwood landed his very first trout on a lure while camping up at Eildon over the weekend. Eildon is definitely starting to fire as the weather cools down! Great work Maison!

This Sunday 22nd May on ONE at 5.30pm

Nothing better than when you have a skipper who puts you right over the spot!

Tune in this Sunday on ONE at 5.30pm to Paul Worsteling’s IFISH with Tackle World and see just how good it gets over an isolated reef off the Darwin coast.

Paul is fishing with Shane Compain of Arafura Bluewater Charters on the mothership, Wai Nawana and the conditions are mint.

Paul reckons you should ‘come to the N.T.’ as you’ll be pretty sure to catch some stonking fish with the Arafura Bluewater boys.
