Bob Hee is this week’s “catch of the week”. Bob and his son Michael fished the Western Entrance throughout the week and managed a couple of big girls. Bob landed this cracker that weighed 12.5kg and then followed it up by heading back to the same spot the next night and boated a 13kg cracker. Well done Bob.

Our good friend Sharky from Sharkmen Fishing Charters had another exceptional week on the bluefin tuna. Sharky reports that size of fish have been down the last week, but there is definitely lots of them!

Decky Matty Harris and skipper Simon Rinaldi of Red Hot Fishing Charters continued to put their customers onto some quality tuna this week. The boys only managed to get out for a couple of days with the wild weather, but there were no shortages on those days!

Mitch Bertacchini from Online Fishing Charters finally found a break in the weather this week and managed to send his clients home with some tasty tuna fillets.

Matt Boulton from Fish On Charters found that there’s no lack of bluefin at Portland. Matt reports that there is still good numbers of fish in close.

St Helens has been a hotspot down in Tassie this week. Bradley Day managed good numbers of school fish and in the end had to leave them biting. Well played Bradley!

Anthony Schofield paddled his kayak out on Wednesday and had a good session landing a healthy gummy. This fish fell victim to a pilchard but it hardly took the bait! Instead it was hooked in one of the fins! Quite an unlucky gummy, however, still a great tasting catch. Well done Anthony.

BOURCHIER CHANNEL

Bourchier and Boulton Channel produced some ripping snapper this week. Getting up onto the flats during the high tide has been a very productive time of day with fresh bait and patience being the key.

Customer Scott came into the shop last week and chased down advice from staff member Neil about winter reds who put him on the money. Neil sent him in the Bourchier Channel direction where Scott landed a cracker that weighed 7.1kg on the run out tide.

QUAIL BANK
Quail Bank has been littered with quality squid this week but the guys that have been finding better numbers are fishing in 6m and deeper. Size 3.5 and 4.0 size jigs are critical.
WESTERN ENTRANCE

Good customer Bob Hee and his son Michael had a good weekend on the gummies! The boys fished the Western Entrance on Friday to land a solid fish of 12.5kg. To follow it up they headed out again on Saturday and landed a cracker at 13kg. Fantastic fishing boys!

Tim Nalder landed this quality red of 6kg while drifting around the Corio Bay area using fresh squid.
MORNINGTON

Shaun Furtiere from Think Big Fishing Charters headed out with regular customers, Dan and Jade for some winter whiting and squid. Squid were the first target before turning their juicy tentacles into some quality whiting. Well done guys.

PW headed down to Mornington for a coffee and walk along the pier during the week where he noticed a few anglers with some quality snapper to 3kg! Anglers have been catching some good reds from the rocks as well as the pier. Squid has been the most effective bait.

The rocks at Mt Martha and Mornington produced some bigger sized squid throughout the week. Natural colour jigs are working the best.

Young Xavier landed his first ever fish this week! Xavier went down to Balcombe Creek on Friday morning after the boys from Tackleworld Mornington set him up with the right gear and bait. While drifting a scrub worm under a float near the bridge, Xavier landed this cracker little bream. Love your work mate!

Portland hasn’t just been a hotspot for tuna this week, good numbers of tassie trumpeter are being caught by the boys deep dropping.
TOOLONDO

Ian Bruce headed to Lake Toolondo over the long weekend to target the iconic brown trout on fly. Ian reports that the fishing was quite tough over the long weekend but he managed to land this 2.2kg golden brown on a wooly bugger.

Thomas Moiler had a good weekend with his girls at Lake Toolondo fishing land based. Unfortunately he wasn’t able to get his daughters onto a fish, but he managed this cracker 3.1kg brown.

Corey Rutter landed this big buck brown during the week at Toolondo. As we hopefully get more rain during the winter months the fishing will only get better! Well done Corey.
EILDON

Jim Elliot headed to Eildon over the Queen’s Birthday weekend and spent his days trolling. Jim reports it was a tough couple of days with over 40 lure changes for two browns and a redfin.
YARRAWONGA

Good customer Paul Delisle headed up to the Murray near Yarrawonga over the long weekend. Paul fished with his son Rex and good friends Geoff and Ashley. The group managed to catch a few small cod but also some tasty crays. Awesome work guys.
BARWON HEADS

Plenty of numbers of good size salmon are prevalent around Barwon Heads and the size and quality of fish will only get better as it gets colder. Casting metal slugs has been the method of choice.
DEVILBEND

Customer Matt popped into the shop on Friday morning during our sale where he quizzed staff member Garry on where he could find some trout. Garry set Matt up with a few lures on special during the stock take sale and sent him down to Devilbend. This lovely rainbow trout fell to a gold Strada Quika. Matt would like to thank Gaz on his excellent service and knowledge. Well done Matt.
BLUE ROCK DAM

Staff member Kallan’s old man, Geoff, headed down to Blue Rock Dam on Sunday for a trout troll. While fishing with a good mate, the pair managed 2 quality trout to 40cm on diving hardbodies.
BAXTERS BEACH
Anglers are doing well on the salmon at Baxters Beach near Kilcunda, catching some whopping sized fish to 3kg! Patternoster rigs are the go with bluebait on the bottom hook and a surf popper on the top..
WARRATAH BAY

Staff member Jesse headed down to Warratah Bay over the weekend and managed some Australian salmon. Jesse reports that the numbers of fish were high but the size were small. The majority of fish were caught on poppers.
LAKES ENTRANCE

The guys from Far Out Fishing Charters in Lakes Entrance have been doing exceptionally well bottom bashing around the offshore reefs. There are still great numbers of snapper around along with all of your normal reef dwelling species.

Deckie Milla and skipper Crusty from Hot Fishing Charters released this 130kg striped marlin on the shelf off Bermagui on Saturday.

There’s still some striped marlin kicking around off Bermagui, John Calgaro managed this beauty during the week.

NAROOMA

There are some great numbers of yellowtail kingfish around Montague Island at the moment. Young Conner got amongst them during the week with most fish taken on jigs.

The boys from Charter Fish Narooma continue to dominate the kingfish scene at Montague Island! Some bigger models have turned up throughout the week like this one caught by Ben from Cooma that measured 105cm.
HERVEY BAY

Chozza from Hervey Bay Fly and Sports Fishing reports excellent numbers of stonking long tail tuna. Casting soft plastics into the busting schools have been the go. Awesome fishing Chozza!
AIRLIE BEACH

Daniel was lucky enough to escape up to Airlie Beach of late where he had a ball aboard a local charter. There were definitely no shortages of fish! Daniel managed to land some cracker mackerel and other pelagics on the troll.
