PORTLAND

Well done to Wayne Sharrock from Sharkmen Fishing Charters who boated yet another barrel out of the shallow water at Portland again onTuesday. Sharky continues his good form and cracked the ton yet again with this beauty weighing in at 108.6kg. Congrats to all involved!

There seems to be a bit of a pattern for Sharky as he has managed to land atleast one barrel every second day this week aboard Sharkmen Fishing Charters. Sharky managed 2 on Friday, 1 on Sunday and then also another on Tuesday! Its tuna mayhem down at Portland!

Simon Rinaldi from Red Hot Fishing Charters proved once again over the weekend why they call him the barrel slayer when they boated these 2 beauts! Their some monster tuna! Well done guys.

Wowee! Jayden and Jason headed out from Portland on Wednesday in their 3.9m tinnie and ventured back to the ramp with a barrel! The boys hooked up in 60m of water behind Lawrence Rocks and then boated this 103kg beast some time later!
Goes to show that sometimes you don't need the best gear, but we do recommend to pick your weather in a small boat! Awesome stuff fellas.

Darren Tanti wrestled this barrel aboard out from Portland this week and he just made the ton weighing in at 100.8kg . Fantastic work Darren!

APOLLO BAY

Andrew, Steve, Luke and Sunny had a double hook up on a couple of massive tuna while fishing out from Apollo Bay. The boys battled these 2 monsters for 2 hours before boating them and heading straight back to the ramp to weigh in. The first weighed 100kg and the second a bit bigger at 117kg. This was Sunny’s first time game fishing and to say he is hooked is an understatement. Well done boys.

Jayson Turner from Pro Red Fishing Charters reports that there are some quality reds coming from the top end this week. Fresh squid and salmon have been working best for Jayson on the reds, but also on the gummys and seven gills that have been kicking around too.

Shaun Furtiere from Think Big Fishing Charters got the job done on a couple of cracker reds for his clients from Malaysia this week. Shaun reports that they landed 2 within 3 minutes of each other and the biggest weighed 6.4 kg. Great work Shaun.

Good customers Ned and Zoran sussed things out on Port Phillip over the weekend and managed to sniff out the early season reds! The boys report things will start to pick up even more with a small spike in the water temp.

Darren Boniface wasn’t happy with Geelong missing finals and he found out why when he was fishing in 19m out from Mt Martha! Darren was targeting the snapper but pulled up this ling with a face that only a mother could love! Much like Geelong’s Ling who has been absent for the Cats in the previous couple of seasons! Love ya work Darren!

78 year old, Charlie Fava had a drift for squid out from Portarlington last week and was rewarded with this beautiful calamari taken on a green jig. Well done Charlie!

QUEENSCLIFF

Young guns, Beau, Bailey and Jay from the Whittlesea Angling Club fished out from Queenscliff during the weekend for a club event and did exceptionally well. Jay landed his first squid and it was also the biggest with a hood measuring 40cm! Together the boys put on a show and came home with a great bag of calamari.

Matt Cini from Reel Time Fishing Charters managed to put his customers onto some good patches of calamari last week and there were no shortages. Matt reports that the spike in water temp has just kick started the action.

RYE BACK BEACH

Shaun Makin ventured down to Rye Back Beach for a poke around in the sand and ended up landing some quality salmon. Shaun reports he was using a Paternoster Rig with a surf popper and bluebait, a deadly combination on salmon! Great work Shaun!

GOULBURN RIVER

Ben Moss smashed the trout in the Goulburn over the weekend landing 15 browns to 1.5kg. Ben reports that all fish were taken on small soft plastics.

Staff member Jesse Matthias fished the Goulburn River on Wednesday and landed a few nice brown trout fishing the Thornton area. Jesse reports that all fish were taken on Strada Black Heart lures and he also dropped a few bigger fish.

Staff member Gerry Morsman headed up to the Goulburn on his days off this week and reports that the fishing was tough for most of the day with plenty of follows but no hook ups. Gerry did manage his first ever stream brown on the very last cast of the day! Great work G-Banga!

EILDON

Billy Mikus landed one of the fattest rainbow trout we have ever seen! Check out this beauty that came out of the pondage and weighed in at 3.5kg. It is almost the exact shape of a football!

Good friend of the shop, Paul Delisle headed up to Eildon last Saturday and managed a couple of nice browns and a reddie while trolling pink tassie devils in the Fraser Park area. On Sunday, Paul smoked up his catch and reports it went down superbly with a bottle of Captain Morgans!

16 year old Casey George fished Woori Yallock creek near Yellingbo over the weekend and managed this cracker rainbow trout that weighed 1.13kg! Awesome fish for a small stream! Great work Casey.

POWLETT RIVER

Jamie headed down to the Powlett River last week and nailed some lovely bream fishing with large scrub worms that he purchased from the shop. Jamie landed 3 fish with the biggest measuring 40cm. All fish were released to fight another day.

EAST GIPPSLAND

Frank Milito from East Gippsland Fishing Charters continued his good form in the east and had a couple of hot sessions on the perch throughout the week. The water has cleared up a little and the fish have been firing!

Stuart Hindson had a couple of clients, Jase and Ryan jump aboard over the week and had a ripper session nailing over 100 bream and plenty of trevs! Great work boys.

PORT MACDONNELL

Gerard Delaney, Marty Ellul and Xavier fished in 500m of water out from Port Mac throughout the week and were not disappointed with the high quality chew they brought home for the table. The boys managed to land this pink ling of 9.6kg and 2 blue eye at 12.4kg and 7.4kg respectively. Great work gentlemen!

There was exceptional weather on the East Coast over the weekend and the fellas from Charter Fish Narooma managed to sneak out and get their clients some good feeds of snapper, gummys and many other reef species. A few reports kicking around that some albacore and yellowfin have been taken more north.
