Port Mac had a couple of good days on the barrels this week, on Sunday 4 big ones were weighed in at 99,77,76,and 135 kg.

It was all fun and games aboard Simon Rinaldi’s Red Hot Fishing Charters this week. Simmo found the fish on the sounder on Monday morning and then seconds later the rod screams off! If you get the chance, check out Simons video of this fish being hooked up on his facebook page and witness the sheer power of these beasts.

Well done to anglers Joe and Josh Formosa along with David Feneck on their capture of this cracker 90kg bluefin. This fish was caught between Lawrance Rocks and Cape Nelson.

Chris Splat and Terry Roberts with one of several barrels caught on Friday. This fish weighed in at 113kg. Great work boys.

This fish was the biggest fish for the week weighing in at 129.5kg. Well done to angler Josh Barkie and his crew Kane, Ross, Ashton and Tory Ardizi. Fantastic fish guys.

Angler Steve Gripps and his mates landed this horse which weighed in just shy of 100kg. The boys also managed a good bag of school fish all in 40m around Cape Nelson.

Berandi hooked and landed this tuna at Cape Nelson this week which weighed in at 57kg. It’s a good sign that we are getting a good range of sizes in the fish this season.

Paul fished aboard Adamas Fishing Charters in choppy conditions on Saturday. Despite the rough conditions, Paul reports he had a fantastic trip landing 4 fish. Great work Paul.

Jessica Jarman caught her first bluefin this week. Jessica was fishing out of Apollo bay when the rod screamed off and she was hooked into this bullet of a fish which went about 13kg. Well done Jess.

TASSIE

The Tassie reports have gone quiet the past couple of weeks, but this fish was caught the other day aboard Doongara Fishing Charters and weighed 94kg.

What a cracker! Kristal caught this monster 75cm flathead while fishing land based in Western Port’s north. Kristal reports that despite the large gash on the head of this fish, she was able to revive it and let her swim away. Love your work!

JOES ISLAND

Scott Mcnab landed this lovely snapper on Friday morning. The fish measured 85cm and was released. Great work Scott!
QUAIL BANK

Rick Roberts fished in what looks like perfect conditions last week. Rick drifted in and out of about 3m of water straight out from Quail Island and landed a good feed of these quality squid. Size 3 and 3.5 jigs have been doing the damage in this area.

Jayson Turner from Pro Red Fishing Charter had a bit of fun on Friday night with some clients. Jayson managed to catch and release 15 seven gill sharks and a few gummies. Jayson reports he also lost his berley bucket to something very hungry!

Anthony Torpy got amongst the pinky action yet again this week. Anthony continues to catch mullet at Mordialloc and then uses it as bait to convert them into these lovely pinkies. Anthony reports there a few small salmon around also.

PATTERSON RIVER

David Albarenque was stoked when he pulled this ripper bream from the Patterson River near the boat ramps. The fish measured 42cm and weighed 1.65kg! This is a common theme of late and with the rain pushing fresh water into the system, scrub worms and yabbies will be exceptional bait.

Patterson River has seen plagues of small salmon out the front of the river this week. Where they lack in size, they make up for it in numbers. Arma metal lures have been working well.

Nikki Bryant and the rest of the family had a lovely day on the water this week catching plenty of small squid before heading out deeper where they got amongst some good sized pinkies and flatties on soft plastics. Great work guys.

Matt Cini from Reel Time Fishing Charters is still running one of his boats out of Port Phillip while his other is at Portland. Matt found his customers some good fishing this week targeting the squid in shallow and then converting them into reds out deep. Great stuff Matt.

Good customer Shane headed out from Sorrento this week to target some of the big squid kicking around in the shallows. Shane was casting Yamashita jigs and pulled up this lovely specimen. Gold and red foil jigs in size 2.5 have been doing quite well lately.

Wayne Sharrock from Sharkmen Fishing Charters spent a day away from the tuna this week, he took his clients out for a bottom bash and proved that Portland isn’t just about the tuna. Sharky managed to land his customers some small harpuka, tassie trumpeter and also a gummy and school shark.
PORT FAIRY

Scott Gray had a great day drifting for gummy sharks last week while filming with the boys from AFN. Scott fished around Julia Percy Island and was not disappointed with the result!
TOOLONDO

This is why Toolondo is such a special place! These beautiful looking brown trout were caught by Geoff Stock this week, the biggest weighing 6.25lb and his mate weighed 5.10lb. Geoff has been finding areas where the trout are congregating and feeding and then throwing paddle tail soft plastics at them. This method has proved to be quite effective as well as trolling Tassie Devils.

Staff member Garry Norton took his old man Peter down to Devilbend for an afternoon fish. They didn’t have a lot of action, but Peter managed this lovely rainbow trout caught on worm under a bubble float, it weighed in at 2.25kg.

Staff member David Kramer joined Fisheries Minister Jaala Pulford on Saturday stocking 200 yearling rainbows into Casey Fields to commemorate the Victorian Governments commitment to stock 5 million fish in Victorian waters over the next 12 months. Another 500 rainbows will be stocked in late June.

Adrian Ridout and 6 of his good mates headed over to Wedge Island for a 4 night trip aboard Marion Bay Fishing Charters. Adrian reports that the fishing was insane! The fishing was constant and the group had a ball catching nannygai, whiting, snapper, samson fish, school sharks, gummy sharks and plenty more! Sounds like an awesome trip fellas! Well done.

Jake Taylor caught this 2.5lb yellow belly while fishing in the Cooper Creek on a family holiday. The Taylor family was on their way to Birdsville when they stopped at Innamincka for a bit of a fish. Great part of the world!

Good Customers and owners of the Rhyll Trout Farm, Adam and Kylie Fraser are lucky enough to be spending some time up on the Gold Coast and they snuck out for a bit of a fish. The pair managed to jump aboard with Ross from lucky strike charters, they scored a bag of sand whiting , mud and blue swimmer crabs, flatties, bream and a total of 12 species in 6 hours! Great work guys.

Nic Cook landed this cracker little flathead while fishing in Lake Causeway near Yeppoon. Nic reports that he was casting instinct twitch blade lures around when he came up tight on the 60cm model.

Peter Petrus has been up on the Daly River and was stoked when he caught his first ever barramundi which measured 68cm. Peter would like to thank Dylan from Tackleworld Cranbourne for his help on gear.

Good customer Pete Ferguson is living it up in Cairns at the moment. Pete managed to get out on the water to enjoy the beautiful weather and ended up landing this quality bludger trevally on a dogtooth skirted jig.

SAMOA

Sean Heinemann, Brad Pinch and Boofa have just returned from the Samoan International Game fishing Tournament where the boys placed 4th out of 23 boats! The boys report the fishing was tough with only 6 marlin being tagged and 4 sails, they had 100+kg yellow fin free jumping all week but couldn’t get a hit, however they did manage this cracker which weighed 65kg but was unfortunately caught on the pre fish day. Nevertheless a fantastic trip. Love your work guys.

Catch "Talking Fishing TV " on Melbourne's C31 (ch44) at 8.30pm each Tuesday night with staff members David Kramer and Adam Ring together with Steve ”Trelly” Threlfull. While Season 1 has ended as far as the live shows go, Talking Fishing will continue with some repeated episodes until end May and the live shows return on Tuesday 4th August.
