TUNA
PORTLAND
img
Mornington customers Gam Ada Le and Tien Nguyen had a great time at Portland last weekend. After getting all their gear rigged by Adam Ring, they headed out on their very first tuna mission and as they reported on our facebook page; it was mission accomplished. Well done guys!

img
It was a bit cold at Portland over the weekend but that didn’t stop the tuna from biting! Matt Boulton from Fish On Fishing Charters had another good week on the bluefin tuna and sent his clients back home with a good slab of fresh fish!

img
Simon Rinaldi and Matty Harris from Red Hot Fishing Charters just couldn’t keep the rods in the water this week as the fish were going nuts with 4 and 5 way hook ups! Smaller skirts have been doing plenty of damage on the schoolies! Great work fellas!

img
Matt Cini from Reel Time Fishing Charters was back in the thick of things this week and managed some good numbers of fish out from Portland. Matt also found that downsizing his skirts prompted more bites from the finicky fish.

img
The crew from Sharkmen fishing charters had some good fun on light gear this week while chasing school fish on snapper gear! If you ever want to get the blood pumping, just chuck a light spin rod out the back and wait for it to scream! Great work boys!

PORT FAIRY
img
Peter Beech was stoked to land his very first bluefin tuna this week while fishing with Salty Dog Fishing Charters out of Port Fairy. Peter reports they found plenty of action 35km offshore. Great stuff Peter!

WESTERN PORT
QUAIL BANK
img

Pat Ellaby snuck out on Sunday and came across a good patch of big calamari. Pat was happy with this model with the hood measuring 42cm. Some decent rings on that! Well done Pat.

NORTH ARM

TYABB BANK
img

Kristian landed his PB squid while fishing the Tyabb Bank over the weekend, he was stoked with his catch and continued to dominate with another 8 squid in total all of about the same size. Daiwa Nude jigs were the stand out.

img

Jake Gamble got out on the squid off Tyabb Bank last Sunday and reports the biggest went 47cm. Well done Jake and thanks for the pic!

PORT PHILLIP BAY
PATTERSON RIVER
img
Staff member Kallan fished with mates, Daniel and Troy on Saturday and managed some quality bream from the Patto. The fishing was quite tough as conditions were almost too good! However, what the fish lacked in numbers, they made up for it in size. The boys managed their fish flicking soft plastics and hard bodies along the edges of the canals.

MT MARTHA
img
Regular customer, Andrew Tartgalia and his young fella, James had a successful squid session out from Mt Martha on Sunday. The boys were only on the water for a couple of hours and managed their bag with no hassles at all. Great work fellas!

AROUND THE STATE
BULLEN MERRI
img
EJ Todd rep, Mitch Chapman had a field day out at Bullen Merri over the weekend nailing big rainbows and chinook salmon. Mitch found most of his success trolling tassies and other hardbodies down deep with the use of his downrigger. These brutes gave the NS Amped rod a fair work out!

GUNNAMATTA
img
Gunnamatta has been producing some quality salmon from the beach this week with many lure anglers getting into the thick of things. Bait anglers are still landing some nice fish, though yellow poppers have been a stand out on a paternoster rig.

YARRAWONGA
img
How good is that feeling of landing a PB?! Trent Murray spent 20 years searching for that elusive 1 metre Murray cod and during the week he managed just that while trolling a big black stump jumper in the Murray near Yarrawonga. Congratulations Trent!

PORT WELSHPOOL
img
Kozzi and Huff ventured down to Port Welshpool last Sunday and spent a couple of hours bouncing out the front until they got a nice bag of flatties. The boys report they were as thick as they come and they were also pleased to see a good amount of penguins in the area herding up the baitfish.

LAKES TYERS
img
How about this for a monster flathead?! Shane Wolf landed this big girl of 96.5cm at Lake Tyers this week. Cracking fish Shane, well done!

AROUND THE COUNTRY
PORT MACDONNELL
img
The boys from Port Macdonnell Fishing Charters were amongst plenty of tuna this week, but hows this for a cool butterfly mackerel for a lovely surprise. Awesome looking fish!

img
St Helens, Tasmania
This Sunday 26th June on ONE at 5.30pm

This Sunday on Paul Worsteling’s IFISH with Tackle World Paul pits himself against a formidable fish, commonly known as the gladiator of the sea. The mighty Broadbill Swordfish is what Paul has come to Tasmania’s east coast fishery off St Helens to find. Paul is there in the name of scientific research and a lifelong dream. He’s joined by Sean Tracey and Locki Nichols from IMAS, the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies, who will attempt to deploy a satellite tag, if one of these amazing beasts can be brought along boatside. You just can’t miss this epic session of man versus a giant of the sea!
