PAUL’S FISHING
img

img
Paul set off on another exciting adventure last week. Travelling up to Lake Dartmouth, Paul arrived and got straight into the thick of things while fishing and working with Jarrod Lyons from the Arthur Rylah Institute. Jarrod put Paul onto the fish and taught him a thing or two about the iconic Macquarie perch. Paul spent a couple of days and nights camping aboard ‘True Blue” and managed plenty Macquarie perch and some beautiful brown trout. From Dartmouth, Paul jumped back on the road where he headed to Wagga Wagga and fished with past IFISH apprentice and Social Fishing founder, Rhys Creed. The boys had a fantastic outing targeting golden perch and with permission from fisheries, they were able to target and analyze the protected trout cod in some gin clear water. Great work Paul!

Gotta love the water to plate concept ..Yes Chef!!

WESTERN PORT
TYABB BANK
img
The Tyabb Bank was fishing exceptionally well this week with plenty of good whiting landed. There were reports of fish to 49cm and plenty of them! As the sun goes down, the fish are getting up in the shallows and feeding up before the water gets too cold.

BOUCHIER CHANNEL

AROUND THE STATE
PORTLAND
img
Matt Boulton from Fish On Charters made use of the break in the wind and found plenty of tuna at Portland. Matt fished on Monday and found bait balls of red bait in 100m out from Bridge Water which produced these lovely bluefin. Matt was hoping for a bigger fish, but his clients, Jack and Troy weren’t disappointed with their catches!

img
It’s about time the wind stopped….well for a couple of days at least! Mitch Bertacchini from Online Fishing Charters was back amongst the bluefin action this week and in a way, the wind did us some favours by spreading the bait which meant there were quite a few fish in close! Mitch reports there was no lack of fish with the average school fish around 20kg.

img
Simon Rinaldi’s new boat got a definite work out this week as Red Hot Fishing Charters dominated the scene once again. Simon is now running a second boat under Red Hot Fishing Charters so there is no missing out with them this season! UV Xraps and Richter Dorado’s did the job for the boys this week. Love ya work Simmo.

img
Matt Cini from Reel Time Fishing Charters gave his customers a good work out this week with plenty of bluefin landed aboard Reel Time. Matt has had good success this week on smaller skirts and hard bodies.

img
The crew from Sharkmen Fishing Charters had no problems this week chasing bluefin with enough fish to go round. While there are plenty of fish in close, the fish out wide are definitely in big numbers!

img

Paul had a successful trip to Portland last Saturday when he landed this 26kg model while fishing with the crew from Adamas Fishing Charters. It’s great to see a run of more solid school fish!

It’s great to see some bigger tuna landed in the west this week. Jarrod Quinn from Ocean Grove Fishing Charters and David Reid landed this 70kg bluefin out from Apollo Bay this week. Cracking fish lads!

LAKE WENDOUREE

Rapla field staff, Jo Daisy Howes landed this chunky redfin while fishing at Lake Wendouree throughout the week. Lake Wendouree is renowned for its big reddies, but this is by far one of the biggest we have seen in some time. Love ya work Jo!

OVENS RIVER
img
Matt Prokopiev landed this beautiful Murray cod on Saturday. Matt’s success came by trolling deep diving lures past heavy structure. Love ya work Matt!

Andrew Ketelaar has been catching some beautiful Australian salmon from the Kilcunda area of late. Fish to 3kg aren’t uncommon according to Andrew and most of his fish are being landed on either pilchards or surf poppers.

DUNDEE BEACH
img

img
Our very own, Greg Duncan lead a group of anglers from Cranbourne up to Dundee Beach last week to fish with Jason Bettles from Wildside Sport Fishing. Greg reports the trip was a definite success with the group nailing big barra, black jewfish, gold spot snapper, coral trout and abundances of other species. It was quite a battle to get the fish aboard half the time as the Finniss River was littered by big hungry crocs, but despite the loss of a few, plenty of fish were managed. Greg reports if anyone is heading north to get in contact with Jason as he was a pleasure to fish with and went above and beyond to please his clients!
