Tony and Marlin Blackford caught this monster gummy that they estimated to be over 20kg, fishing the western entrance. Fresh couta and salmon chunks were the best baits.

Tracey caught her first big snapper on Friday. This one went 80cm and was caught fishing the run in tide using yakka chunks as bait in the Rhyll area.

Newlyweds Di and Graeme fished Western Port this week and landed Di’s PB snapper of 8kg which was photographed, weighed then released.
CORINELLA

Staff member Kallan fished out of Corinella during the week and landed a couple of snapper to 4kg. Both fish were caught on squid baits on the incoming tide.

Steve Walsh fished with mates Kerry and Matt on Monday. The boys landed 8 snapper, including this one that weighed just under 8kg. All fish were caught on the run-out tide using pillies and squid.

REEF ISLAND

Breno and Carriano had an excellent session on the calamari over the weekend fishing around Reef Island. They also caught some nice whiting.

Grahame made the trek down from Shepparton and got amongst some nice gummy shark in Western Port this week. Fresh bait is proving a great option for targeting gummies of late.
MIDDLE SPIT

Shaun Furtiere from Think Big Fishing Charters has been jumping from bay to bay and found himself getting amongst some very nice Western Port whiting in between snapper charters. He and his clients found some healthy whiting biting on sand worm, mussel and pipi.

Shaun Furtiere has been getting into the snapper off Carrum this week, but on Sunday he had a very surprising by-catch. Angler Dana Lim landed this cracker Gummy out from Carrum. Great by-catch!

Simon Rinaldi has been putting his clients aboard Red Hot Fishing Charters onto some nice snapper this week. Simon has found fish to be a bit scattered but they are biting on pilchard, squid and silver whiting.

Jayson Turner from Pro Red Fishing Charters has been finding numbers of fish from 15-21 metres scattered. Best baits have been silver whiting, squid and pilchard.

Scott from Mornington caught these two snapper that weighed around 3kg each; fishing out deep from Mt Martha on Tuesday. Pilchards still seem to be very effective.

Just a little exciting pic! Scott Grimster was diving off Rye pier on Sunday when a school of approx 20 Kingfish at least a metre in length swam by several times, all captured on film. Getting a few views on YouTube right now!

Travis Carlier landed his first snapper for the year while fishing out from Clifton Springs this week. He didn’t have to go far, landing this 4kg fish just 400m from the ramp.

Indented Heads snapper and squid are in great numbers for anglers prepared to cover ground. Paul Jones took a healthy sized 3kg snapper on 2-4kg tackle which resulted in an outstanding fight. Pauls lures of choice was a Gulp Minnow in Nuclear Chicken.

David Staal landed this beast of a flathead that measured 88cm while fishing Lake Tyers on Friday. David caught it using soft plastics.

Matt Prokopiev fished Lake Eildon this week and after trolling for a while unsuccessfully, he switched to soaking some worms. The bait fishing did the trick and he landed this 2.5lb trout.

Gonzo McDerby caught and released this quality trout at the mouth of Big River on Tuesday. This fish was taken on a fly at first light in the morning.

9 year old Annie landed this beautiful Murray Cod as soon as the season was open near Deniliquin. She was a very excited angler!!!!

Blair Bryant reports Mallacoota was on fire over the weekend and the bream were biting. Hard body lures worked a treat along the edges and this Bream that cracked the kilo mark fell victim to one of Nikki’s lures.
