PAUL’S FISHING
img
img
In what is supposed to be the “off season” for rooster fish in Mexico, Paul, Cristy and Jet have definitely experienced some extraordinary fishing off the coast of San Jose this week! Paul was lucky enough to hook into his first ever rooster last year but it was Cristy and Jet’s turn this time!

It goes to show that fishing can be its own language at times. The Worsteling’s guide spoke no English what so ever and the trio aren’t exactly fluent in Spanish, however, when hooked into these amazing fish, they all understood each other perfectly! Congratulation to Cristy and Jet for crossing another species off the list!

MIDDLE SPIT

Shaun Furtiere from Think Big Fishing Charters provided the goods on the whiting yet again throughout the week. Shaun managed to put a very keen customer onto some chunky whiting and he was stoked to land a couple of fish in excess of 43cm. Great work Shaun!

img

Emily Tanner landed her first whiting while fishing with her dad last Wednesday. Emily is usually a snapper girl, but switched tactics and landed herself this great feed of whiting using pippies and live bass yabbies.

JAM JERRUP
img

Karl Wilkinson ventured down to Jam Jerrup throughout the week and was rewarded with this 75cm gummy whilst fishing the low tide. Land-based gummys can be hard to come by at times, so well done Karl!

COWES
img
Kozzi and Huff fished near Cowes last Saturday and came home with a great feed of whiting and pinkies. The boys surprised themselves and landed this little rat kingy that put up a great fight on whiting gear.

WESTERN ENTRANCE
Keith Diprose from Big Time Fishing Charters reports the gummys are going strong down the western entrance with plenty of fish around the 10+kg mark not uncommon. Whiting have been a bit slow but things should pick up with some quicker tides on the way. Skitzy also headed offshore on Sunday morning for a mako, unfortunately he had no joy, but did manage to land plenty of arrow squid and some good flatties.

FLINDERS
img

Rino and Barlow landed this massive mako while out from Flinders on Tuesday morning. The boys were fishing in 65m when this steam train started peeling line off their TLD 25 loaded with 15kg line. An hour later the boys finally sunk the gaff in and hauled it aboard. The boys rang the shop seeking a scale big enough to weigh their catch and Scotty put them on the money. The final weight was 137kg. Great fish fellas, well done!

THE RIP

Matt Cini from Reel Time Fishing Charters had an unforgettable session on the kingfish on Tuesday, landing in excess of 20 fish with the biggest measuring 71cm. His customers were very happy with the result. Matt has been trolling small skirts around the Rip to find the fish, but once on them, metal jigs have proven effective.

Jessica Gawel had a great session on the cod this week while up on the Murray. Though she said it wasn’t her favourite way to catch cod, trolling was by far the most effective. Jessica managed countless cod around 50cm and at one stage she was catching one every 20 to 30 metres. Well done Jessica!

img
