Stop the Insanity: Fight Procrastination and Achieve Those Goals!

Do you ever feel like you're on a hamster wheel, like you're not moving forward with your goals or resolutions?  If you've seen the movie 'Groundhog Day', you may be able to relate to the main character who inexplicably wakes up to the exact same day, over and over again. Though he's not pleased with the way the day unfolds, until he makes a change, the outcome remains the same. Are you following the same behavior patterns, taking the same actions that you have in the past, continuing to go through the same motions day after day, but you're secretly hoping for new results?

January tends to be a month where we set goals or resolutions and look forward to a fresh start, only to find that come February, nothing has really changed.  A big part of breaking the cycle of insanity, in which we repeatedly do the same things but expect different results, is to set specific goals, create action plans and fight procrastination.

As always, we are here to help you jump back into action and embrace a new, more productive year.  Read below for some ideas on how to beat procrastination and achieve meaningful, achievable goals - at home and at work. This year can be different!

Why do you procrastinate?

We have all struggled with procrastination at one time or another.  Instead of beating yourself up about it, take the time to investigate the reasons behind your procrastination. We found the top 10 reasons behind procrastination, such as lack of self-control, perfectionism, and unclear expectations. When you learn your 'why', it's much easier to formulate a 'how'.  Listen to this informative radio interview with Debbie on Blog Talk Radio or webcast interview with Smead for strategies to identify your why and get to your how in beating procrastination.
