Help build a 'Designer Asylum' for Liverpool

From March to May 2015 we are opening a test version of Madlove - A Designer Asylum. (Find out more here).
We'd like to invite you to be part of a workshop and social event to reimagine current mental health care.

Madlove Workshop.

Date: Tuesday 13th January 2015
Time: 12:30 - 3:30pm
Venue: FACT, 88 Wood Street, L1 4DQ

It begins with a question. ‘If you could design your own asylum what would it be like?’ Madlove, a truly collaborative, ambitious, national project, invites those with and without mental illness to reconsider how mental health is treated.

We want you to help us design a ‘safe place to go mad’ - to redesign the ‘asylum’. This fun and informal 3 hour workshop will help create the blueprint that will be used to ultimately build a temporary ‘designer asylum’.

The workshop is for anyone with experience of or an interest in mental health who would like to contribute to the development of Madlove. Please note that places are free but very limited, please only book if you are committed to attending.

Please RSVP to emily.gee@fact.co.uk / 0151 707 4421 by Friday 19th December to register your interest.

Madlove Talk and Social.

We'd like to invite you to a talk and discussion event by artists the vacuum cleaner and Hannah Hull around their newly commissioned artwork, Madlove, which will feature in our exhibition Group Therapy next Spring.
Date: 14 January 2015
Time: 5:30pm to 7:30pm
Venue: FACT, 88 Wood Street, L1 4DQ

‘If you could design your own asylum what would it be like?’ Madlove, a truly collaborative, ambitious, national project, invites those with and without mental illness to reconsider how mental health is treated.

We want you to help us create a ‘safe place to go mad’ - to redesign the ‘asylum’.

Madlove is a new project by artist and activist the vacuum cleaner based on his personal experience of mental health hospitals, and his desire to find a positive space to experience mental distress… and enlightenment.

At this event the artists will present the context of the Madlove project and the ideas already collected through workshops across the England for a temporary ‘Designer Asylum’ at FACT.

Anyone with experience of or an interest in mental health is invited to come and find out more about this project. We are especially excited to meet people who would like to contribute to the project in any way.

Please note that places are free but very limited, please only book if you are committed to attending.

Please RSVP to emily.gee@fact.co.uk / 0151 707 4421 by Friday 19th December to book your place.

We hope to see you at one or both of these events.
