The start-up for start-ups

Ringier is intensifying its endeavours in venture capital investing and has established Ringier Digital Ventures AG, a strategic partnership with b-to-v Partners AG. The independent corporate venture capital firm has a total investment volume of CHF 30 million and is focusing on innovative, digital start-ups. "We look for companies and founder teams who aim to revolutionize their market", said David Hug, Managing Director of Ringier Digital Ventures AG. It is not the first time the media enterprise and b-to-v are joining forces: In April 2014 the two partners already invested jointly in the Swiss online start-up Recommerce AG. Thomas Kaiser, CEO Ringier Digital, mentioned the advantages of the partnership: "At Ringier Digital Ventures the start-ups not only benefit from extensive media coverage, but also from the expertise of successful business people from the Ringier and b-to-v network." Ringier Digital Ventures is intended to maintain its own, independent start-up character. A small team, well connected in the industry, looks at potential investments and accompanies the start-ups as they grow - to paraphrase: "a start-up for start-ups". On Wednesday, January 28, 2015, around 80 start-up founders, investors and business partners got together at g27 in Zurich to commemorate the foundation of Ringier Digital Ventures. For more information please contact David Hug.

Management Buy In (MBI) opportunity - Industrial precision machining

In the wake of a company succession a market leader in a niche market for industrial precision machining can be acquired. The family owned business generates about EUR 2m in revenue, has strong revenue potential and very close relationships to blue-chip customers. It is debt free and already highly profitable today (20% EBITDA margin). The company, founded more than 50 years ago, is led by the owner willing to sell the business and retire. He is happy to assist the buyer as an advisor for another 2 years. b-to-v knows the seller since more than ten years and fully trusts him. We very much think that this company is a very attractive target for a mechanical engineer willing to become an entrepreneur running his own business or for an executive chairman with a business background in combination with an employed engineer. The company has very strong customer relationships, significant potential for future technical developments and related to commercial activities a plausible plan to reach EUR >5m in revenue in 2017. For more information, please contact Christian Schütz.
