Updates from the ground: IFPTE Local 21

Local 21 Contra Costa Chapter
will be strengthened by full agency shop

After five years of continuous organizing, the Local 21 Contra Costa Chapter is very pleased to announce that we have met the requirements of the modified agency shop provisions of our MOU.
The language was put into the first contract negotiated after the chapter organized with Local 21 and states that when 2/3 of both bargaining units become members, all represented employees must become a member or pay an agency fee.
Full agency shop will greatly strengthen our chapter, as we anticipate more than 200 non-members will now become active in their union. This couldn't come at a better time; we are moving in to our new office in downtown Martinez and preparing to reopen our contract to improve our healthcare benefits.

Members are gearing up to help elect a new Mayor and City Council who believe in and will restore city services and make the City safe again, while stopping the mass exodus of city employees. Watch the video to learn more about the campaign and how to participate.
