Parent Orientation

Parent Orientation is a mandatory, annual meeting of our school corporation for both returning and new families. You must sign in to show you were in attendance. The meetings will last approximately 45 minutes. You only need to attend one meeting per family, even if you have more children enrolled.

Please meet in the gym after you take your child to class. During this meeting, we will go over school policies and changes for this year. We’ll also discuss parent-helping, tuition, and snack. This is a great time to ask questions, voice concerns, and meet other parents and the board members. 

Please choose the meeting time that works best for your schedule:
  • Monday, September 12 at 9:15 a.m.
  • Monday, September 12 at 1:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, September 13 9:15 a.m.
  • Friday, September 16 9:15 a.m.

Annual Walk-a-thon and Potluck Picnic

Join us for the annual walk-a-thon and picnic! It will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 29 and Friday, September 30 at Dwayne Webster Veteran’s Park (Cannon Park). It’s a fun way to raise funds and socialize. It’s not a mandatory fundraiser, but if every student were to raise a minimum of $30, the school would earn over $3,000 to be used for educational improvements. That would make a HUGE difference for our school and our children!
  • Pledge envelopes will be distributed in the children’s cubbies at school.
  • Invite family and friends to make a tax-deductible donation and come walk with us. Complete the pledge form and return it in the treasurer’s box at school.
  • Come to the walk-a-thon on the day your child attends class.
    Miss Jill’s MW 3s and Mrs. Martinez’s PM 4s: Attend whichever day works best. Please arrive at the park at 10:30 a.m.
    —Mrs. Martinez’s TR 3s and MWF 4s: Come to class at the usual time in the morning, and then pick up your child at 10:00 a.m. and go to the park.
    —Ms. Jodie’s MTWR 4s: Bring your child directly to Dwayne Webster Veteran’s Park at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 29 for a scavenger hunt and story time.
    —Miss Jill’s TR 3s: Bring your child directly to Dwayne Webster Veteran’s Park at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 29 for a scavenger hunt and story time.
    —Miss Jill’s F 2s: Simply meet at the park at 10:30 a.m. to begin the walk-a-thon.
  • Wear your Community Preschool t-shirt if you have one, and bring your camera. We will walk three laps around the playground area together. Each child who participates will receive a small prize.
  • Bring a nut-free dish to share. We will be using SignUpGenius.com this year so watch for an email to sign up. Items needed are: Main Dishes (noodles, chicken, casserole, small sandwiches, hot dogs, etc.), Desserts (cookies, brownies, fruit kabobs, etc.), Side Dishes (fruit, vegetables, pasta salad, green salad, etc.), Other Sides (chips, dip, popcorn, pretzels, etc.)
  • Parent-helpers for these days, please bring cups and drinks to share. (Your children will have show and tell before going to the park.)
  • Pack plates and plasticware/silverware for your family. Also bring any serving utensils needed for your potluck dish.
  • And most importantly, have fun!

Second Quarter Tuition Due Friday, September 23

Tuition for the second quarter is due by Friday, September 23. Please drop your check in the treasurer’s box in the hallway, with a memo including your child’s name and class. To find the amount due for your class, see the Tuition Schedule available on the website.

Extra Clothing and Diapers

Extra clothing is helpful for students of all ages in case of accidents with paint, snow, mud, etc. If your child uses diapers, please keep extras as well as a change of clothes in your child’s backpack. Also, please label your child’s backpack on the outside with their name. It really helps us find their backpack much quicker!

Snack Policy

Community Preschool is a nut-free preschool. All snacks must not contain or be processed in a facility with nuts, and must be either pre-packaged or prepared at the school. If you bring a snack that is not nut-free, you will be charged an $8 fee for a replacement.

Due to Larimer County restrictions, we cannot serve refrigerated dairy products, such as cheese, yogurt, etc.

You can serve fruit and vegetables, except melon. All fruits and vegetables must be washed in a CPS-labeled colander in the kitchen window sink. Please wear disposable food prep gloves while washing and cutting the produce.

Babysitting Swap, Paid Parent-Help, Substitute Teacher Lists

Do you need childcare on your parent-help days? Trade babysitting with another family by signing up for the Babysitting Swap.

Would you like to be available as a paid parent-helper? Sign up and if another family has a conflict, they have the option to pay for their parent-help time to be covered.

Are you a certified teacher in the State of Colorado? Add your name to our Substitute Teacher list for days when one of our wonderful teachers can’t be in class.

To add your name to any of these lists, please contact the Jobs Coordinator, Elizabeth.

Community Jobs

Information about the schedule for your community job will be distributed in your child’s cubby and your e-mail. If you haven’t had the opportunity to sign up, please be on the lookout for an email from the Jobs Coordinator, Elizabeth.

Show and Tell for 3s and 4s

Students in our 3s and 4s classes have the opportunity to share a show and tell on days when their parent is helping in class.

Scholastic Book Order Due September 28

Each month you have an opportunity to purchase affordable books for your child through Scholastic. It is a great program and each book you order earns points for Community Preschool to purchase educational materials and books for the classrooms. You are welcome to fill out the paper order forms or order online. If you would prefer online, please go to scholastic.com/readingclub create an account with the code GWCML. Please contact our School Administrator, Ms. Tammy, with any questions.

The book order for the month of September is due on Wednesday, September 28.

Moms Nights

Mrs. Martinez and Ms. Tammy would love to invite Community Preschool moms to Moms Night on the second Friday of each month. We meet in Mrs. Martinez’s room from 6:00–10:00 p.m. Park on the north side of the building and enter through the exterior door at the end of the hallway.

In the past, moms have kept busy with anything from balancing their checkbooks, working on taxes, knitting, sewing, crocheting, cardmaking, scrapbooking, etc. Or just come to visit! If you have any questions please ask Mrs. Martinez or Ms. Tammy.

Easy, Everyday Fundraising

You can help raise funds simply by purchasing products you use anyway.

Buy a gift card for King Soopers or Safeway for $5. (The beginning balance is $5.) Add to the balance and use it whenever you shop, and the school receives 5% back from your purchases, including groceries and gas. Consider getting cards for family and friends, and their purchases will also benefit Community Preschool.

Save your Morning Fresh Dairy milk caps and drop them in the collection box at school. We earn $50 for every 1,000 milk caps collected.

Purchase a Papa Murphy’s pizza coupon card for $10 and use it for great dinner discounts.

Save a bookmark for http://smile.amazon.com/ch/84-0612975, and use it when you shop on Amazon. Then 0.5% of your purchases will come back as a donation to our school.

If you’d like to purchase a grocery card for either King Soopers or 
Safeway, or a Papa Murphy’s pizza coupon card, you can email our Development Coordinator, Myriah, or ask one of the teachers.

Mark your calendar and plan to join us for a night of painting at Studio Vino on Tuesday, October 11. More details will be coming soon!

Playground Update

An enormous thank you to everyone who helped with our playground project over the last two years. It’s done! All of our hard work paid off. The playground looks great and the children are enjoying it!
