Pax Christi International will be celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2015!
We invite you to attend the celebrations, taking place in Bethlehem, on 13 - 17 May 2015. Bethlehem was chosen as a symbol of Pax Christi’s commitment to peace and reconciliation. The celebrations' theme will be: "Pilgrims on the Path to Peace". 
The event is open to all Pax Christi members, partner organisations, local and international peacemakers, as well as interested individuals sympathetic with the Pax Christi movement.

Pax Christi Flanders and Broederlijk Delen plan campaign in support of safe elections in DR Congo

A new campaign under the slogan "Safe to the polling station. Disarming rebels in Eastern Congo" will be launched by Pax Christi Flanders and Broederlijk Delen in the context of the upcoming provincial and presidential elections in DR Congo (2015/2016), to raise awareness about the importance of enabling Congolese people to cast their democratic vote safely, without the threat of rebel groups. The campaign will kick off during the 2015 Flemish Peace Week (21 September - 2 October) and will reach its peak during the 2016 Peace Week. Read more here

Antennes de Paix / Pax Christi Montréal marks World Peace Day with 24 Hours for World Peace

The 2nd edition of 24 Hours for World Peace, organised by Antennes de Paix / Pax Christi Montréal, was held on 1 January 2015, with calls for peace wishes on topics such as children of the world, human trafficking and exploitation, women’s issues, inner peace, interreligious peace and armed conflict.

Pax Christi Institute in the Philippines welcomes ceasefire in the country

The Pax Christi Institute in the Philippines along with other local peace groups issued a statement welcoming the announcement by the Government and the Communist Party of a temporary ceasefire for the period up to the Papal Visit to the country scheduled for 15-19 January 2015. The statement calls on all relevant parties to consider the possibility of a humanitarian pause beyond the Papal visit, to give respite to victims of humanitarian disasters in different parts of the country, and to encourage the country to refocus on healing and rebuilding vulnerable communities.

Pax Christi UK Peace Sunday to take place on 18 January

The next Pax Christi UK Peace Sunday will take place on 18 January 2015. Building on the 2015 World Peace Day papal message “Slaves no more, but brothers and sisters”, the Peace Sunday will look at the links between war, violence, forced labour, modern day slavery and trafficking. Pax Christi UK has produced a variety of resource materials for the Peace Sunday which are available here .

Pax Christi co-signs civil society letter on Palestine’s accession to the International Criminal Court

The Independent published a civil society letter, co-signed among others by the Flemish Pax Christi section and the International Secretariat, asking European countries to lift their opposition to Palestine’s accession to the International Criminal Court, in order to help end impunity and bring justice for Palestinian and Israeli victims of crimes under international law. Pax Christi takes part in Vienna Conference on the Humanitarian Impact of Nuclear Weapons

In December, Pax Christi took part in the Vienna Conference on the Humanitarian Impact of Nuclear Weapons, as well as in the ICAN (International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons) Civil Society Forum and Marketplace, showcasing highlights from the movement’s advocacy work in the field of disarmament. Violence and human rights violations in Haiti

The National Episcopal Commission for Justice and Peace in Haiti recently released a report (French/Creole) on violence and human rights violations in the capital Port-au-Prince during the second half of 2014. The report highlights the prevalence of political violence in Haiti, as well as a lack of political will and democratic legitimacy across a significant segment of the political elite in the country.

2015 Holy Land Coordination meeting

The 15th annual meeting of the Holy Land Coordination is taking place in Bethlehem on 10-15 January 2015. This year’s meeting will focus on the situation of vulnerable Christians. Key points of the meeting will be visits to Catholic communities, briefings from the Apostolic Nuncio and the Latin Patriarch, meetings and discussions with Catholics and, where possible, with representatives of other Christian denominations and other religions, such as Jews, Muslims and Druze. A visit to Gaza is also planned.
