Notification: Modalities of the ninth session of the Plenary of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (#IPBES9)
Dear IPBES Members, Observers and participants who have registered for IPBES9,
As you know, the ninth session of the Plenary of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES 9) is scheduled from 3 to 9 July 2022 in Bonn, Germany. Please refer to notifications EM/2021/41 and EM/2021/42 of 20 December 2021 for further information. The provisional agenda and all documents for the session are being made available on the IPBES website at https://ipbes.net/events/ipbes-9.
The meeting will be held in-person in Bonn, Germany. As communicated in the annotated provisional agenda, provision has been made for duly registered members of delegations to view the proceedings online.
While it had been announced previously that online participation would be restricted to “viewer mode” and not allow active participation in the meeting, provision is now being made for duly registered members of delegations to actively participate online in the plenary meetings and meetings of the two working groups which are expected to be established. These provisions have been made to respond to the multiple requests received from Governments and to support a balanced participation in light of the still ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Delegates that would like to participate online need to complete the same registration procedure as delegates participating in-person.
All members of a delegation are requested to complete the online registration form using their own account at https://ipbes.net/user/login?destination=ipbes-9/registration, at their earliest convenience, and no later than 15 June 2022. Delegates should register using their own accounts to ensure they have access to limited distribution documents. A user account can be created at https://ipbes.net/user/register.
In addition to completing the online registration form for each member of a delegation, each delegation is required to submit an official communication containing the names of the members of the delegation to confirm the registration as soon as possible through the online platform at https://ipbes.net/user/login?destination=ipbes-9/nomination-letters-and-credentials. It is not necessary to indicate in the nomination letter or credentials whether a delegate will participate in-person or online; all members of a delegation will receive connection details for online participation.
I thank you again for your continued support of IPBES.
Dr Anne Larigauderie | Executive Secretary
Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES)
