"Summer Sherbet" Quilt by Sarah Nunes of Berry Barn Designs
That old Alice Cooper song's been stuck in my head all week ("Schoooooool's out for SUMMER!") but right before the earworm bit, I finished two thank you quilts for my daughters' teachers, Summer Sherbet, shown here, and Blue Owls. I took a different approach to labeling each of them with all the kids' signatures, but I love how they both turned out and the teachers were thrilled!

Have you seen the 2017 Pantone Quilt Challenge winners? Some gorgeous work! (This one wasn't a finalist, but I think it's my favorite of all the entries.)

I'm giving away a set of Binding Babies this week, and it just so happens that Craft Industry Alliance ran an interesting article on them in their newsletter. (Psst... not a member? If you have any type of craft business, I highly recommend joining - tons of great resources!)

If you're sewing with kids, check out this free Snake Charmers pattern from Shiny Happy World. Easy and adorable!

Quilters, here's a healthy dose of quiltspiration in the form of very colorful floors! And then go look at these awesome barn quilts - I just stumbled upon this design company and now I want one for my walls.

And social commentary aside, this fauxdega showcases crazy dedicated sewing skills, which you'll appreciate if you've ever tried your hand at felt crafting.

This month's "go green" tip is thanks to Kitty who shared this video that caught my eye. I have a few reusable bags that fold up teeny, but I love that this version is appealing to kids and youth and is easy to take with you.

Current fabric crush: School's out and I'm thinking summer and camping and Glamperlicious by Samantha Walker caught my eye. It's a bit too cutesy for my house, but I feel like my parents' camper might need a little something sewn.... If you liked the busy floral fabrics I used in my Meadow Walk Quilt, you might love the rich botanicals of Rifle Paper Co's Menagerie. And Stay Gold by Aneela Hoey is the perfect burst of summer sunshine!

As for my latest quilt crushes, look at this! I'm imagining it in Cotton & Steel-esque Christmas prints for a retro holiday feel. Also, THIS. I know, I know - cuteness overload, right? And I'm not even a pets-on-quilts kinda person! And in a totally different vein, I adore this cover quilt from Warm Folk. Daisy's palettes are always intriguing to me! What new fabric or quilts are you loving right now?
Berry Barn Designs monthly Creativity Quote - Henry David Thoreau
This wallpaper has me missing New England and the ocean something fierce, but reminds me how much I love our family's military lifestyle. I may miss my hometown, but I get to travel and resettle frequently, and it's that much more "canvas" to fill with my creative experiences. Where do you head when you need a creative boost?

The studio's been hopping this month! I finished two teacher gift quilts, entered a test-block-turned-cushion-cover in the Pantone Challenge, and blogged about how much I'm enjoying sending you newsletters each month.

The "Love for Linette" quilt blocks poured in from around the world. (Thank you, everyone! Your generosity has been amazing!) I'm almost done piecing Linette's quilt top, and next week I'll send it off to Stephanie (the Late Night Quilter) for quilting. If you'd like to see all the blocks that were sent, click here.

I'm almost done with my Topiary Quilt pattern and can't wait to share it with you in July! Speaking of which *I'm looking for a few pattern testers*. I cover the cost of fabric, and my patterns are generally advanced beginner difficulty in modern traditional designs. If you're interested in becoming a pattern tester, please hit reply and let me know!

And last but not least, the first round of the Kids Quilt Round Robin wrapped. The variety of styles from participants runs the gamut from patchwork to paper piecing. You can see three blocks above (@berrybarnkids & @sarahmgoer) then look at #kidsquiltroundrobin for a peek at more of the kids' hard work! If you're sewing with kids this month, too, send me a link - I'd love to share it in the next newsletter!

This past week I took a big leap forward (since my 2017 mantra is "action")...
I launched my quilting & sewing workshop offerings. I've wanted to jump in to teaching our craft for a while, but figured I'd wait till after we stopped moving so frequently, or the kids were all in school, or - you know, until life was really predictable. Then a guild contacted me last week asking if I would teach for them and I thought, "What am I waiting for?? Life will always be busy, and I'm kind of an expert at scheduling and travel. Let's do this!" (And besides, now my "local" offerings could be all over the country as we relocate ; )

If you're interested in booking me to teach at your shop or guild, please get in touch! I'm scheduling for 2018 and would love to teach for you. You can see my current workshops here, and I'm happy to tailor to your needs if there's something else you'd like to learn.

If you'd like to weigh in on anything I've shared, please do. It's as easy as hitting "reply" to this email, and I'd love to hear from you! Happy sewing & creating!
P.S. I don't have 1.85 million yen, but I want this. Except I want it to fold & store fabric!
