BC Aviation Council Award & Scholarship Winners Announced!


Congratulations to all our award and scholarship winners! We look forward to celebrating with you at the Silver Wings Awards Gala on October 26 at the Vancouver Convention Centre West. 


At the annual Silver Wings Awards on October 26, the British Columbia Aviation Council (BCAC) will honor and highlight the many achievements of its members, industry leaders and the youth who benefit from over $23,000 awarded annually in scholarships.

BCAC’s premier event, the Silver Wings Awards, takes place on Wednesday, October 26 at Vancouver Convention Centre West, 1055 Canada Place, beginning at 6 p.m. Early bird registration rates available until October 7th so register now. A hotel block is available until October 13, click here for more information. Discounted air fares are also being offered by Central Mountain Air and Pacific Coastal Airlines from specific locations in BC.  Check out details on our website.

We expect 250-300 attendees from all sectors of the industry so join us and have a great time in a great venue.  Emceed by John Lovelace of Wings Over Canada / Century of Flight.

The Government of British Columbia is providing more than $8 million in funding this year to support infrastructure improvements at 23 community and regional airports in B.C. Below is a recap on where the funding went this year and to which projects through the BC Air Access Program (BCAAP). 
  • Alberni Valley Regional, runway lighting: $729,215
  • Baker (Burns Lake), runway rehabilitation: $552,046
  • Bella Bella, terminal building upgrade: $198,750
  • Bob Quinn Lake, runway resurfacing: $180,000
  • Boundary Bay (Delta), helipad relocation: $174,300
  • Campbell River, an airport fuel facility: $903,750
  • Comox Valley, apron repairs: $35,000
  • Charlie Lake Field (McBride), runway rehabilitation: $20,887
  • Dawson Creek, various terminal and groundside rehabilitation works: $128,250
  • Dease Lake, runway resurfacing: $861,950
  • Kaslo, security fencing upgrade: $52,500
  • Kamloops, apron rehabilitation: $2,599,000
  • Lillooet Municipal, runway, fuel and building upgrades: $110,508
  • Oliver, taxiway extension: $157,350
  • Pemberton Regional, runway rehabilitation: $56,250
  • Princeton Regional, runway resurfacing and fencing: $457,939
  • Prince Rupert, maintenance building roof replacement: $300,000
  • Quesnel Regional, security gates and GPS approach: $117,900
  • South Cariboo Regional, runway enhancements: $18,375
  • Trail Regional, airport terminal building: $1,180,935
  • Valemount, runway crack sealing: $75,000
  • Vanderhoof, GPS approach: $21,225
  • Williams Lake Regional, fuel system upgrade: $150,000
