June Budget Message
On Friday, June 1st, Mayor Liccardo released his June Budget Message, which outlines his final recommendations and changes to the Proposed Budget for the 2018-2019 fiscal year.

The Mayor has proposed key investments in public safety, housing & homelessness, and BeautifySJ.

I am happy to announce that the Mayor has proposed including all of the budget ideas I requested:
  • Pursue planning grant opportunities through the Metropolitan Transportation Commission or other State/Local agencies to prepare for the South De Anza Boulevard Urban Village Plan.
  • Fund an additional $200,000 for D1 Decides Participatory Budgeting.
  • Allocate $83,000 in one-time funding for a full-time Associate Transportation Specialist for a six-month extension of the pilot RPP program through December 2018 to complete remaining work on the project.
  • Pilot a 1-year program that eliminates late fines for youth materials so the 9,500 affected youth can continue to benefit from and use library resources.
These budget proposals and the many others listed out in the Mayor's June Budget Message will be voted on by the City Council on Tuesday, June 12th. You can attend the meeting in person at the San José City Hall Council Chambers or watch the live stream online
