"Making it Home"
by ReadyStageMove™

Who They Are
Making-It-Home ( brings home furnishings to low-income families in need – veterans, people with disabilities, victims of natural disasters, and more. They are currently furnishing the apartments of formerly homeless people who are moving from emergency shelter to apartments.

Here is How They Work:
  • Donors must send photographs and approximate dimensions of the items via email before Making-It-Home can commit to taking them ( Supporters should acknowledge that some items may not be accepted.
  • When a donation is confirmed, Making-It-Home and the donor agree to a pick-up date and time. Making-It-Home provides each donor with a donation envelope and suggested amount to help defray the expenses involved. They also offer a tax deduction letter and send a personal thank you to each person who contributes.
  • All furnishings must be moved by the giver to the first floor of the house/apartment (or garage) since Making-It-Home’s volunteers are not able to bring items down from an upper floor. Contributors are also required to sign a waiver of liability in advance of the pick-up.
  • Making-It-Home accepts furnishings made of wood, leather, metal, glass, and upholstery if bug free and not torn, stained or broken. Acceptable items include sofas, lounge chairs, end/coffee tables, small dining tables and chairs, book cases, TV stands, bed frames, night stands, dressers, mirrors, lamps with shades, and some area rugs. All furnishings must be in excellent condition.
  • Making-It-Home cannot accept mattresses and box springs, dining room hutches or media units, other very large items of any type, or dishes/housewares and small or large appliances. Making-It-Home reserves the right to not accept items of any type that they believe won’t work for their clients.
