Glendale Food Shelf Needs Our Help

Throughout the month of June we have offered the opportunity to support the important work being done by Glendale Food Shelf in our community. The food shelf is operated by East Side Neighborhood Services, and we're honored to be a long-time contributor to helping make a difference in the lives of the individuals and families they serve.  You can contribute at any time by writing a check to PPUMC with ‘Glendale Food Shelf’ in the memo line; or contribute directly online at the East Side Neighborhood Services metro food programs information page by clicking HERE .

The need for food assistance continues to grow, and we expect it to do so throughout the summer. Thank you for your generous support.

PPUMC Photo Quilt!

Friends, we got a great start on our
We are making a collection of photos that will look much like a quilt.
We will use it on our website and Facebook and such.
We will make a visual statement about what we stand for as a community!
We had a chance to snap a very fine collection on June 21st - if you couldn't stop by, now's your chance!
Any "selfie" will do; if possible choose a rainbow background - or one bright color - make yourself a sign similar to the ones in the pictures.
Express yourself. Simply.
Email the photo to Dave, Chris or Cassie, or to PPUMC.
Ask friends and family to participate...the more the merrier!
We speak louder together.
Just a FEW of the photos, below!

Join Book Club by Zoom! "A Good Time for the Truth"

The PPUMC Book Club will be meeting in two weekly sessions.
The times and dates selected by our survey:
Sunday afternoons at 1:00 pm,
beginning July 12, and
Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm,
beginning July 16.
We plan to meet for 8 weeks, reading 2 chapters a week.
Read in advance whenever possible.
We will discuss important and sometimes challenging ideas. We are coming together with the understanding that we need to learn, and to be gentle with one another and with ourselves.
We, the organizers, plan for this to be a safe space for questions, learning, and growth. Come with an open heart, a willingness to listen, and kindness on your lips.
"A Good Time for the Truth: Race in Minnesota", is edited by Sun Yung Shin. We are hoping that every person in our community reads this book and then recommends it to a friend - whether or not you join in the book club.

"A Good Time for the Truth" centers around conversations about racial disparities in Minnesota through essays written by Native American writers and writers of color. You can purchase a physical copy at booksellers such as Magers & Quinn and online via the MN Historical Society. This book is also currently available for reading FREE over the next two months
at Ebooks MN.

Online Small Group Activities

Online small group gatherings continue.
You will find a couple of changes to our small group gatherings schedule, noted in the information below. We hope you'll consider checking them out soon...and feel free to invite a friend!

Tuesday Evening Bible Study - Job: This group has been established and meeting for the past several weeks, taking a deep dive into the book of Job. If you are seriously interested, please talk with Pastor Chris.

The Wednesday Lunch Break has been retired.
Thanks to those who participated! Bon appetit!

In addition, the Friday Evening Movie Club recently completed its eight-week session discussing the Harry Potter movie series. It was relaxing, insightful...and magical! Our plan is to take a sabbatical for the rest of the summer and return in the fall. If you have a desire to host another session before then, please let us know!

This coming Saturday is July 4th - Happy Birthday to us all! We will take a break from our Saturday Morning Stretch and Afternoon Maker's Circle gatherings, reconvening on Saturday, July 11.

The people of PPUMC stand with the Minnesota Conference in rejecting the

Traditional Plan approved at General Conference 2019 as inconsistent

with the gospel message and will resist its implementation.

We remain committed to full inclusion.
