Rensselaerville Library Employment Opportunity
Part Time Library Clerk

This position includes general clerical and patron assistance tasks plus support programming and fund raising. This employee is supervised by and reports to the Director of the Rensselaerville Library. This is a provisional part time position and must be able to work Saturdays.

The employee’s responsibilities include: customer service, handling routine circulation activities, collection of fines and fees, searching and updating computer records, shelving, collection maintenance, assisting the Director with identification and scheduling of programs and outreach activities, as well as assist with researching, writing and tracking grants and other fund raising tasks. The employee will work independently and must be able to open and close the building.

Required Skills and Abilities: The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, organized with strong interpersonal skills. The ability to maintain tact and courtesy, have a flexible schedule, understand and follow written and oral instructions, basic computer skills and a positive work attitude. On the job training is provided.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school or equivalency diploma.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous library experience.
Experience with scheduling, outreach and/or grant writing.

Hours are flexible but must be able to work at least two Saturdays per month. 1-2 hours are available during the week for outreach and fund raising tasks.
Hourly Rate: $12
