Dear Butterfly Effect’s members,
The World Water Forum is organized by the World Water Council and a host country; it is held every 3 years to discuss issues around the efficient conservation, protection, development, planning, management and use of water in all its dimensions on an environmentally sustainable basis for the benefit of all life on Earth.
Since the 6th World Water Forum in Marseille (2012), where our coalition was launched, the Butterfly Effect is recognized as an important coordinator of civil society participation in this event and during its preparation process.
The objectives of the Butterfly Effect in relation to the World Water Forum are to:
The next edition of the World Water Forum will be held in March 2018 in Brasilia, Brazil, under the theme « SHARING ». The Butterfly Effect is already very active in the preparation of all of the Forum processes. Today, we are happy to inform our members about possible ways to get involved. Sharing your expertise at the 8th World Water Forum will be key to make the Forum a success !

Citizen Process - Call for Proposals
The Call for Proposals for the Citizen Process of the 8th World Water Forum has been released. The deadline is approaching, only a few days left!
Please download the call here and submit your proposal to email@example.com before February 28th 2017.
The Citizen Process Committee will review all proposals and refer back, latest before the Second Stakeholders Consultation Meeting on April 2017. In addition, funding for CSOs could be provided (more news will follow).
Thematic Process - Theme "PEOPLE"
The 8th World Water Forum Thematic Framework is structured in six main themes and three crosscutting issues, which relate to each other as follows:
Following the submission of an application, the Butterfly Effect was appointed by the Thematic Process Commission of the 8th World Water Forum for the Theme Coordination Group of the Theme PEOPLE.
A two-day Thematic Kick-off Meeting took place in Brasilia in the first week of February 2017, with the purpose to discuss the Forum preparation process. This gave the Butterfly Effect the opportunity to advocate for a strong voice for the Civil society during the next World Water Forum. For each theme, several topics are listed. Topic coordinators will be appointed in the coming weeks and for each topic 3 to 4 sessions will be planned.
The Butterfly Effect secretariat will keep you informed about the topic coordination and the possibility to get involved in the thematic process of the 8th World Water Forum.

To create a more inclusive Forum, a series of three online discussions called Your Voice will be held in 2017. The first begins 13th February and lasts until mid-April 2017. Add Your Voice to six thematic discussions on:

2nd Stakeholder consultation meeting, April 26-27, 2017
The 2nd Stakeholder Consultation Meeting for the 8th World Water Forum has been set for April 26th and 27th, 2017, in Brasilia, Brazil.
This meeting is being designed as an important milestone to ensure comprehensive consultations and engagement process that will lead to the 8th Word Water Forum.
Registration will be open by March 1st, 2017, on the 8th World Water Forum website www.worldwaterforum8.org.
For now, we have little information on other processes (policy, regional, etc.) since they have not been yet launched. However, we will keep members informed as we know more.
