Stephanie Yau — From Santa Clara University to Ernst & Young.
When I was in high school, I aspired to become a business leader and to make a positive impact in the world. MVLA Scholars’ support helped me tremendously in being able to attend Santa Clara University as a first step in achieving my goal. Studying at SCU, with its values of service to others and compassion, has helped me grow as a person these past four years.

I graduated from Santa Clara University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance, and a minor in Management Information Systems. I participated in various leadership programs and had the opportunity to represent SCU in the 2018 Silicon Valley Regionals of the Venture Capital Investment Competition hosted by UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School at Google, winning 2nd Place. These experiences allowed me to build long-lasting friendships with my peers and learn the foundations of business from my professors.

During the summers, I interned at Technology Credit Union, Cisco, and Texas Instruments. During the school year, I also worked as a Library Student Assistant and Writing Partner to help students with their writing projects. I gained valuable experience and knowledge from my internship opportunities and my studies. I continued my violin studies and was a part of the University Orchestra. Performing with the orchestra allowed me to continue my passion for music throughout college.

After graduation, I was offered a position as an Advisory Consultant at Ernst & Young, where I work with my clients to help them improve their processes for a range of business and IT functions. I am very grateful for the scholarship and all of the support I have received from MVLA Scholars, including my caring mentor Julia’s help, and being a part of the MVLA Scholars family. This support enabled me to pursue my dream of attending college. I learned of the courage to pursue my dream and the patience of achieving my goals. I continue to pursue my passion of playing music, learning languages, and volunteering to give back to my community.
