Rejoice: The Griswolds of Griesbach Contest is back

A sack of prizes for the three houses that bring the brightest glow to Griesbach.

Every year, people get into the holiday spirit by clinging to icy rooftops to hang colourful lights that brighten long winter nights.

To reward your efforts, Griesbach Community League has assembled a team of judges to pick the three most glowing examples of dedication to the art of festive illumination. Prizes include:

Grand Prize: $100 Home Depot Gift Card
Runner Up: $50 Home Depot Gift Card
Third Prize: $30 in Famoso Gift Certificates

The contest is named in honour of the near maniacal efforts of Clark Griswold to create the perfect yuletide holiday for his family in the classic movie, Christmas Vacation. Griswold boasted a light display that churned out enough wattage to shut down the entire power grid.

Shoppers Drug Mart coming to Griesbach

We have one confirmed tenant going into the commercial area in Griesbach. Shoppers Drug Mart will be moving from Rosslyn to Griesbach. Rumours and speculation abound about others that are yet to be confirmed... including a couple of restaurants and perhaps a coffee shop.

Work is speeding along on the hotel and the Valour Condominiums. Groundwork is being done on the site of the old Canada Lands building off of 137th and the northwest quadrant continues to bustle along.

It looks like turkeys are back in season. No, not the tasty kind, but the dangerous goof-offs who think it's cool to drive vehicles on the hill at Central Park and across soccer fields. If you see vehicles driving on parkland, please call 911.
