Tale of Two Cities - Addressing Health Disparities Through Workforce Initiatives

Dr. Susman is the Dean of the Northeast Ohio Medical University College of Medicine.  NEOMED has engaged in innovative ways to address the shortage of primary care physicians and to improve community health.
This exciting new documentary comes to us from a Pennsylvania business founder and owner of MSC Industries, Richard Master.  As a business owner, he faces the challenge of providing health benefits for his employees while maintaining his competitiveness in a global economy.  Fix It is the first part of a trilogy, focusing on the problems faced by business owners with our current health system and what his analysis shows to be the answer.  The next two films will deal specifically with Big PHaRMA and Big Hospitals. Dr. Alice Faryna and Dr. Don Rucknagel will chair the session and give training on how to most effectively use this documentary.   Copies of the film will be available to those who attend.

Registration is requested, so do it today at SPAN Ohio.  Lunch is provided and scholarships are available.

Call for a March to End Poverty NOW!

July 18, 2016

Cleveland, Ohio

Join Us!
The United States continues to ignore Articles 23, 25 and 26 of the United Nation’s Declaration of Human Rights, signed by the US in 1948.  The Declaration includes the right to food, housing, health care, education, and living wage jobs. With a 37% poverty rate and 53% of its children in poverty, Cleveland exemplifies how our country has turned its back on the economic human rights that the Country committed to uphold. We now suffer from unsupportable income disparity that hurts everyone.

Cleveland is the city that launched the Welfare Rights Movement. In 1966, welfare recipients marched to Columbus demanding that they be treated like human beings by a system that treated them as less than human for the crime of being poor.  It is in this tradition that we call on all who care about justice to join us on the afternoon of July 18, 2016 to deliver a message to the Republicans gathering in Cleveland. Your membership status in the human race should not depend on the size of your income, or where you stand in the corporate pecking order.
We will march on Quicken Loans Arena, the convention center, on July 18 and make it loud and clear:
No more complicity with the crime of poverty!

No more building your political career on the backs of the poor!

No more silence from those you have stepped on!

We demand an end to poverty now!
SPAN Ohio is a sponsor of the event and will lead the demand for a system of health care that meets human rights standards as promised in Article 25 of the Declaration of Human Rights.  Please plan to join us and make our voices LOUD.
