A Message From Our President
2016 is off to a great start! Founders Day was very successful with over 100 alumnae and UofL Theta Kappa members in attendance at the University Club. We celebrated the anniversary of three 50 year Thetas - Pat Hester, Lynn Cole and Connie Pruitt, and introduced many new UofL members to the meaning of "Theta for a Lifetime".

I am looking forward to leading the Louisville Theta Alumnae Chapter for the next two years and am thrilled to have amazing leaders by my side. Meet the new board:
  • Kathleen Arnold, Secretary, University of Kentucky, Gamma Iota, 2004
  • Ashley Bedingfield, Events Coordinator, University of Mississippi, Epsilon Zeta, 2000
  • Nicole Eovino, President, University of Kentucky, Gamma Iota, 2004
  • Lucy Hagan, Philanthropy Chair, University of Kentucky, Gamma Iota, 2004
  • Erin Montgomery, Panhellenic Delegate, University of Kentucky, Gamma Iota, 2006
  • Erin (Chandler) Simon, Membership/Recruitment Coordinator, Ohio Northern University, Zeta Sigma, 2002
  • Corinne Williams, Treasurer, University of Cincinnati, Alpha Tau Chapter, 1973
We have already generated ideas to grow our membership, provide wonderful social and educational events, and tie philanthropy and service to many things we do. As I also serve as the Advisory Board Chairman of the UofL Theta Kappa chapter, I know there will be opportunities for our local alumnae base to more strongly encourage and support our developing university chapter as well.

I hope to see you at our Spring event (more details below). Please encourage others to attend and thank you for being a part of our local alumnae chapter!

- Nicole Eovino, President

Message From Our Treasurer
As the new calendar year begins, so does our new fiscal year for Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity and our local chapter. So it is now time to pay your dues for fiscal year 2016! Several of you have sent your dues to me already, or paid at Founders Day. But if you have not yet paid, you may send your check, made payable to Kappa Alpha Theta, to Corinne Williams, Treasurer at 5018 Merton Square, Louisville 40241. Please note that this is a new address for me! Our dues structure will remain the same again this year, which is as follows:

Pansy Level = $35.00       Black/Gold Level = $50.00
High Flying Kite = $100.00

You have a few different options for paying your dues. You may send me a check to the above address, or you may pay your dues online by clicking here. Our per capita dues to the Fraternity will be $30/alum for this fiscal year. Many of our members are Kappa Alpha Theta Life Loyal members, which means that they have enrolled in the Fraternity’s Life Loyal program to further support Kappa Alpha Theta financially. Our local chapter does not pay per capita dues to the Fraternity for those enrolled in this program. As always, your dues to our local chapter will support our endeavors to keep Theta alive for our Louisville alums, and allow us to make donations to CASA, Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation, and our Kentucky collegiate chapters. Let’s make 2016 a banner year for dues paying members!

Updates from the Theta Kappa chapter at the University of Louisville from Ashley Hettinger, Alumnae Engagement Director
The Theta Kappa chapter was happy to get to meet and interact with some of you recently at the Founders Day Event and are looking forward to getting to know more of you in the future.

As a chapter we are proud to say that this semester we initiated 12 leading women into our sisterhood on February 21st. In addition to expanding we are also making strides academically as we accomplished our goal of being above the All Sorority Average at U of L, with our GPA for Fall 2015 being a 3.199! We are also proud to have 51 of our sisters on the Dean’s list, 8 of which had 4.0’s for the semester. Recently at U of L’s Fryberger Greek Sing, our sisters took home the Most Entertaining Award, for their Under the Sea performance. You can view the performance here.

The women of Theta Kappa have enjoyed being able to give back to our sisterhood and the community. On Thursday, March 24th from 4:00-9:00, Theta Kappa will be hosting a profit share at Mellow Mushroom in the Highlands, where 15% of each receipt turned in to the collection box, will be donated to the Theta Foundation. Additionally, on April 6th, from 5:00 – 9:00 pm, Theta Kappa will be hosting their signature philanthropy event on U of L’s campus, to raise money for CASA of the River Region. For more information and to register, click here.

As collegiate members at Theta Kappa we would love to get to know more of our Theta sisters, especially those who have similar careers/career goals. We would love to start a pen pal system with alumnae members who can help answer questions and provide advice, as we journey through college and into our chosen professions. With this program, there will not be a requirement of amount of communication, just a way for members to reach out, learn about, and discover new things about their field of study. If you are interested in participating, please complete this google doc (only Thetas who click the link will see the information), or you can contact me directly.

As the Alumnae Engagement Director for Theta Kappa, I look forward to getting to work with, meet and speak with as many of you as possible this semester. If you would like to receive Theta Kappa’s monthly newsletter, participate in any of our upcoming events, or have any questions, I can be reached at ashett01@louisville.edu.

Know a local Theta alumna that is doing impressive work for our community? Email us, we would like to spotlight her in our next newsletter!
