Protect Orangutans this Halloween

An exodus of orangutans escaping the smoke and fire of Palm Oil deforestation that has taken their homes and habitat

Palm oil is an edible plant oil which has become a common ingredient in many consumer products. Today, around 50 percent of the goods we use every day contain palm oil, from processed foods to candles. According to World Watch 340,000 hectares of  Malaysian and Indonesian rainforest are burned annually to make way for palm oil plantations. This fact is pushing the Orangutan to the verge of extinction. They are simply losing their homes to make way for Palm Oil Plantations. This Halloween make sure that the Treats you give out are not a Trick that hurts Orangutans. To date the Rare Species Fund (RSF) has raised more than $1 million for conservation around the world. Today we need your help to Protect Orangutans from Palm Oil Deforestation!

Video of RSF Orangutan Conservation Project

The Rare Species Fund has been working extensively with Dr. Birute Mary Galdikas and Orangutan Foundation International (OFI) in Borneo to help save the few remaining wild orangutans and to protect their jungle habitat which supports so much other wildlife. Funding from the RSF helps replant devastated forest habitat, reintroduce captive orangutans back into the wild and care for more than 300 orphaned orangutans at the OFI Care Center.

***The RSF has contributed more than $1 million for conservation worldwide. You can help with your generous donations!
