Sideris Church // May 2016:
Ministry Updates & Prayer Requests
Thanks to you all for your continued support of our mission to start up a new church in heart of Seattle.  As we have travelled the rocky road over these last 15 months, we have felt your prayers and words of encouragement. We have seen God do some amazing work as he continues to empower us for his purposes in Seattle. We cannot do this in our own power or by our hands alone. Thank you for partnering with us and pleading with us for the Spirit of God to guide our way.

Below you will see updates and prayer requests for the three directions of consideration we are seeking to facilitate through our community.

LOOK UP

We are in at the tail end of our preaching series on The Parables. This series has been challenging for us all as the words of Jesus call us to a higher standard and a more complete embrace of his reign in our lives. You can listen to those online through our website (siderischurch.com/sermons).

This past Sunday we had another first Child Dedications! Addison Tuggle, Oliver Vaughan and Grayson Evanger were celebrated and dedicated to God. It was a beautiful thing to see how a small community can truly become loving support for new families as they seek to raise their children to know and serve Jesus.

Our Music Team continues to bond and grow as learn to worship in Spirit and truth. We are so grateful for the many talented and sacrificial musicians and technicians that God has provided our community.

Please pray for our musicians and pastor as they seek to bring the congregation into the presence of Jesus every Sunday. That they would have reverence for the task and humble themselves to the calling. Amen

LOOK IN

Fellowship groups have started back up! They are places where people are able to deepen their faith and knowledge of God through study, reflection, meaningful conversation, and community. We currently have 95 people connected to one of our six fellowship groups!

In February we started our first year-long Emerging Leaders class. There are 25 souls focused on learning what it means to be a complete disciple of Jesus. This new cohort will help us continue to cultivate a vibrant and united family of leaders here at Sideris.

The Men's and Women's ministries are gaining momentum as we create more opportunities for mens and women to get connected and establish meaningful relationships outside of just Sundays and Fellowship Groups.

We recently started a new tradition of sharing a meal together after our Sabbath Sunday gathering which happens about every 7 weeks. Gathering around the table is something that we see over and over again in Scripture and is also an image Jesus uses to describe what the Kingdom of God will be like. Sixty folks stayed around to share a meal at our last dinner.

Please pray for our Newcomersthat they receive the same welcoming embrace that all of us once felt when we first discovered the Sideris community. Amen.

Please pray for our Emerging Leaders, that they may continue to gain confidence in the gospel and it's transformative power to prepare them to be missionaries in this city. Amen

LOOK OUT

Starting in April, we partnered with Central Community Church (a church plant in the Capital Hill neighborhood) to co-host an ALPHA Course, which is a 10-week series on the fundamentals of the Christian faith. It is a safe place for people from all different perspectives to ask life's big questions, share their thoughts on the topics and gain a better understanding of Christianity. The turnout has surpassed our expectations with 70+ in attendance. God is moving.

We are also working on a new ministry team focused on connecting with Graduating College Seniors. Our hope is to help them navigate this huge transition by emphasizing the importance of intentionally seeking a church faith community as soon as possible after graduation. Many of us have felt the loneliness of this stage of life, so stay tuned as we put details around this vision.

Please pray for ALPHA and those exploring Jesus for the first time, that they would have attentive hearts and that distractions and excuses would be mitigated.

Please pray for vision and direction as we get this new ministry team started, and for a continual desire to represent Jesus in this city and to the waves of young professionals that flood our city in the coming months.
