Dear Fellow Parishioners,

As our annual Stewardship Campaign comes to an end and we approach the close of 2020, we are reminded of all of the things for which we are grateful. We are grateful to YOU! Thank you to all of you that have made a commitment to support St. Luke’s with a pledge for 2021. Thank you to all of you that have been able to fulfill your pledge for 2020. You are so very much appreciated! If you have questions about your pledge or are struggling to fulfil your commitment, we understand and are happy to talk with you and answer your questions.

Friends with your involvement and contributions, St. Luke’s is, and continues to be, the solid foundation of our faith family.  What a blessing our church community has been to us during these uncertain, and sometimes frightening days of 2020.  Our Vestry and Clergy have provided the leadership, spiritual guidance and emotional support to have gotten us through some remarkably difficult times this year.

Finally the waiting is almost over, let us celebrate with grateful hearts the birth of Jesus and the hope that the New Year brings!

Join us in celebrating the Ordination of Lynn Hooks to the Sacred Order of Deacons on December 19th at 10am. CLICK HERE TO LEARN MORE on how to watch the ordination live on Facebook and YouTube.

The live stream of the service can be found on the St. Paul's Facebook Page or St. Paul's YouTube Channel and shared to the Episcopal Diocese of Louisiana Facebook Page.

This year has brought with it so much change, and given us pause to notice things sometimes overlooked in our lives for which we are grateful. Looking back to the Spring, Advent seems to have started early as we waited for Good News. We are called in Advent to actively wait. We are active in prayer, showing compassion for others, and even in quietness, which can be challenging with all that may distract us from looking for Christ in others and ourselves. Yet our life continues to see glimpses of God’s great love for us.

One place I am grateful to see God’s steadfast love is in my journey to Ordination in The Episcopal Church.  I am grateful to those who have shared in this journey over the past years who have encouraged and supported me. On Saturday, December 19, my ordination to the Sacred Order of Deacons will take place in New Orleans at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. It is not at all how I imagined it to be. I imagined a church filled with family, friends, and students and families from St. Luke’s School - who have taught me more about God’s love over the past 25 years than I could ever have hoped to teach. Yet, God is gracious and generous.  I invite your presence, as it will be live-streamed. I hope you will join, as you are able. It means so much to me to know that although we are unable to be physically together, that you know that I hold you in my heart with love and gratitude.

Thank you again for your love and encouragement. You remain in my prayers as we share this path to discover God’s love in new and beautiful ways.

R. Lynn Hooks

We are looking for a few tech-savvy folks who would like to join our LIVESTREAM TEAM to help us with our Facebook Live and Vimeo virtual services produced using the MEVO camera. Don't worry (it's really not that hard). And, you could learn some new skills (if you don't know how to do this already). The LIVESTREAM TEAM is going to be very important, especially for our Annual Meeting when we will have live, real-time voting. Does this sound like fun? We'd love your help.

St. Luke's does great things and we need to let the world know about us. Our new SOCIAL MEDIA AMBASSADOR program is designed to have parishioners high school aged and up to help us spread the word. This is a great opportunity to earn service hours if you need them for school. This is also a great way for anyone to share with the world all the great things happening at St. Luke's.
To sign up and learn more about the program, send an email to Pam BY CLICKING HERE.
