Happy New Year and welcome to the first of our new quarterly newsletters! 2018 was a very busy and productive year at The Bridge, and 2019 is looking very similar with lots of events and opportunities for everyone.
Firstly, there are lots of thank you's
Everyone that was involved in raising money to replace the lift – fantastic effort, and we now have a working lift so everyone can take part in all of our activities.
The Essex Trust and Colchester Catalyst for helping fund the lift and the expansion of the pottery.
All our volunteers for the time an energy you keep giving across everything that we do from meal deliveries and lunch clubs, to supporting students and our other groups
To Waitrose, Tesco and Sainsbury for their food donations, and Mountain Warehouse for their clothingdonations.
And finally to the staff - the two Garys and Angela who left last year.
Welcome to new staff Scott, Jake and Isabelle in the cafe, and to our new volunteers Kerry, Clare, Susie, Linda & Maddy
I’m sure you all know that The Bridge bought the shop ‘Bazaar’ last year. This has created more opportunities for people coming to The Bridge to get involved in retail activities, and is also helping raise a little bit of extra money for all of our activities. Bazaar really is a unique shop, and well worth a visit for that slightly different gift, or just to treat yourself. Bring the news letter along and get a 10% discount!
Pottery at The Bridge
The redevelopment of the pottery now means that you can come along and create your own pottery piece to then paint and glaze. This could be a bespoke plate or mug, tiles, jugs, a lighthouse the only limit is your imagination

Last year we were able to realise a long-term ambition of The Bridge by opening a residential service within 10 minutes of the Courtyard. The House is for 2 people to live in permanently, and also offers a respite bed. We have a dedicated staff team who are able to provide 1 to 1 support to people at the house. If you are interested in discussing respite options, please contact Jo at The Bridge.
We have a brilliant team of volunteers who help out in everything we do, this helps us keep providing good services for everyone. Being a volunteer doesn't only help The Bridge, it also benefits the volunteeer - new activities, new friends and a great 'feel good' factor. We are always in need of more volunteer drivers/delivery assistants, volunteers in the cafe, or with the learning disability service. If you'd like to know more contact Becky at The Bridge.
The cafe is open Tuesday to Saturday from 9.30 am to 4.00 pm for freshly made coffee, cake, snacks and meals. Bring the family for a break, or do some Paint Your Own while you're there.
