I, DANIEL BLAKE
WEDNESDAY 15 MARCH

Ken Loach directs this drama that follows a 59 year old joiner as he tries to navigate the British benefits system. In the North East of England, widower Daniel Blake (Dave Johns) is forced to stop working when he is taken ill with heart disease and so applies for Employment and Support Allowance from the Government. But his life is further thrown into disarray when his benefits are suddenly taken away from him and he is forced to jump through the many hoops of the bureaucratic system to get them back. During this time, he meets the similarly-troubled single mother Katie (Hayley Squires) whose financial problems mean she is being forced out of her home in London along with her two kids.  The film was nominated for five BAFTAs including Best Film, Best Director (Loach), Best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress (Squires).

Afternoon tea (from 4pm) and dinner (from 6pm) tickets available. Book now on 01787 313691 or info@thebridgeproject.co.uk.

THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN
WEDNESDAY 15 FEBRUARY

The Girl on the Train is the story of Rachel Watson's (Emily Blunt) life post-divorce. Every day, she takes the train in to work in New York, and every day the train passes by her old house. The house she lived in with her husband (Justin Theroux), who still lives there, with his new wife and child. As she attempts to not focus on her pain, she starts watching a couple who live a few houses down - Megan and Scott Hipwell. She creates a wonderful dream life for them in her head, about how they are a perfect happy family. And then one day, as the train passes, she sees something shocking, filling her with rage. The next day, she wakes up with a horrible hangover, various wounds and bruises, and no memory of the night before. She has only a feeling: something bad happened....

Afternoon tea (from 4pm) and dinner (from 6pm) tickets available. Book now on 01787 313691 or info@thebridgeproject.co.uk.
