Planning
Mid-rise consultations
The City is hosting online consultations about two Bayview mid-rises:
- 1446-1500 Bayview (Valumart site). Thursday May 13, 7pm-9pm. Register online. The LRA is concerned about shadowing from a nine-storey building and the potential loss of a grocery store and garden centre (though ground-level retail is proposed).
- 1710-1736 Bayview (between Soudan and Eglinton). Wednesday June 2 (formerly May 18), 7pm-9pm. Register online. The LRA is concerned about shadowing from a nine-storey building, a lack of any ground-level retail, projections overhanging the sidewalks, and multiple setback variances.
Canadian Tire on Lake Leaside
The City has published details of the application to redevelop 70-80 Wicksteed (Lake Leaside site) and nearby properties. The application proposes the relocation of Canadian Tire, which currently occupies a site slated for development by RioCan. The City is holding a consultation on Tuesday June 1, 7pm-8:30pm. Register online.
Rooming Houses
The City is proposing a city-wide zoning approach to multi-tenant houses (also known as rooming houses). The approach would apply throughout Toronto - currently, rooming houses are permitted only in the former city of Toronto and parts of the former cities of Etobicoke and York - and enhance licensing, enforcement, and compliance. Read more about the initiative, complete the online questionnaire, and register to attend the online consultation on Tuesday, May 11, 12:30pm-2.30pm.
Garden Suites
As we reported last month, the City is proposing zoning amendments for as-of-right garden suites - i.e. a secondary dwelling unit, typically detached, on an existing residential property. Read more about the Garden Suites initiative and register to attend one of three online consultations (scroll down to "Meetings and Events") on Tuesday May 11, 6:30pm-8:30pm, Wednesday May 12, 1pm-3pm, or Thursday May 13, 6:30pm-8:30pm.
E.T. Seton Park
The Toronto and Region Conservation Authority is holding a second online consultation about its proposed major maintenance project in E.T. Seton Park on the eastern border of Leaside. It's on Thursday, May 13, at 6pm, and you have to pre-register. You can also join the project's mailing list.
Community Preservation Panels
Are you interested in local heritage? The City is looking for members for the North York Community Preservation Panel. Full details are online.
