art play dates and workshops in Northern Colorado

Thanks for Participating in 2016

On January 4 of this year, I decided to take a chance and start a Meetup group. I'd been thinking on it for a while and saw that there was a sale on meetup.com fees, so I went for it. I figured I'd give it a year and see what happens. I can't believe what a success this venture has been!

Thank you to everyone who participated in conversations, both on Meetup and in our Facebook chat, to everyone who attended our monthly Art Play Dates, and to those who attended a workshop. I am thrilled with our activity this year and SO excited to give you a little peek at what's in store for 2017.

In 2017...Artists' Garage Sale!

Oh, so many good ideas have come along during our chats at Art Play Dates and in our Facebook group, as well as in private one-on-one conversations I've had with members. The most popular idea has been the concept of an art swap or a garage sale of sorts.

The plan is to rent space in the Community Creative Center for a day, with each seller renting a table for a small fee, and opening up our stashes to our fellow creatives and to the public. We're looking at March for the sale. More details will be available in January, so start going through your studios now for gently used supplies you want to pare down -- tools, paints, papers, assemblage items, collage fodder, fibers, etc. Whatever you no longer need and you think someone else might like. Questions and/or suggestions? Email me: webmaster@alwaysbcreating.com
Our Art Play Dates take place on the third Saturday of each month. Thanks to the Community Creative Center for co-sponsoring our Art Play Dates!
You asked and now it's a reality! Beginning in February 2017, we'll be meeting 10am - 1pm instead of the time we're meeting now. That will give you a little extra time to sleep before you join us for our happy Art Play Dates.

I'm working on getting our artist workshops lined up for the new year. So far, here's what we have:

Mindy Lacefield (painting) June (exact dates TBD)
Thomas Ashman (journals, dolls, jewelry, weird things) Summer (July - exact dates TBD)
Leighanna Light (mixed media assemblage) September 8-10

I'm also talking with:
Michelle Ward (paint, paper, journals)
Carol Ann Waugh (fiber artist)
